The previous topic of Ruckmen and Success was a beauty and bought back great memories and names.
But what about the “brute ruckman”? I’d have to say, my number one nomination would have to be big “Roo Boucher”. I remember those epic WA v Vic Matches in the early 80’S. I can’t remember exactly which game, but the big fella giving it to the Vics and probably 40k of the 44k were chanting “roo, roo”. It was and he was awesome that day. Let’s not forget that famous photo of Graham Moss dripping blood courtesy of a Boucher “kiss”. There will be plenty of others, no doubt.

I thought there was the incident where Boucher was the one with blood spilling after an altercation with Graham Moss. Must have that one wrong, great topic.

great tpoic shark 58

Poor old Basil Z got hit by Stephan Hooper at Perth Oval
Boucher had the blood, but I don't think it was Moss that hit him. Perhaps someone else snipped him
Jeff Murray handed a few out

You’re a bit hard Grump, he was a good football player that had his career cut short by a knee injury.......well that’s what he told me.

He played for WP so he was following a reasonable number of good or very good ruckman and just wasn't really anything, as for the Hooper thing Hoops bumped him in a ruck contest and flattened him late the following week WP lodged a complaint and the tribunal and the chairman of the hearing suspended hoops, the other chairman, not sure of his name bit greek sounding started with a Z was also a magistrate never had anything to do with the outcome!

back to the topic, Brian Foley was very good and although many did not understand it was a very tough but extremely fair player.

The way I recall it (and i'd be glad for someone to clarify) Hooper was suspended for 6 games which meant his next game back was against the Cardies. First bounce the same thing happened again!
