Would it be possible for the WAFL and the WAAFL to be merged/combined into one body/competition?

Could the WAFL teams be aligned with an Ammos team or be run along the lines of the EPL etc where the 2 bottom finishing sides would be demoted to the lesser comp (currently the amateurs) and the Grand Finalists from the A Division be promoted to the current WAFL comp.....or am I just dreaming?

My thinking behind this has to do with the eventual abolition of the WAFL Reserves comp as we now know it and the current WAFL Colts being taken away from their clubs by the WAFC. I believe that we would need something to fill the void, and I know they are talking about the women's AFL being played before the league games, but I think playing an ammos game before the league game is a better option. We would then still get to see most of the guys that were playing reserves at our WAFL clubs playing in the ammos. This idea could also help reduce the number of grounds currently used.

I know this would need a lot of working through, but could it work?

Any ideas/input welcome.

I have mentioned elsewhere that if the colts are taken away and the AFL reserves gets up then it is a logical conclusion that a WAFL club is no different really to any other non-AFL club.

So, yes, something like this could be feasible under this scenario.

What I will say though is I have my doubts the AFL reserves will happen. Logically it would be considered the next time tv rights are being negotiated and it would take quite a bit of extra money from the broadcasters to make it happen.

In my opinion the AFL as an entity has peaked, and while I am not saying its going to crash and burn anytime soon (far from it) I can't see the networks justifying the expense in the face of a slowly declining viewership.
