If ever the tail was wagging the dog this has to be it:

Channel 7 managing director Mario D’Orazio was adamant that the league had to embrace Thursday nights to remain relevant and financially viable.

“Thursday night WAFL football has a great future,” D’Orazio said. “It is the way forward for clubs in their quest for fans and financial sustainability.”

thewest.com.au/sport/wafl/wafl-embraces-...remont-ng-b88810738z

Exactly how much is the WAFC paying to be dictated to by Channel 7?

Let's start with the obvious Channel 7 and the WAFC don't give a STUFF about the welfare of the players. How reasonable is it for a WAFL player to be expected to play on a Thursday AFTER a hard day's work potentially AND THEN have to back-up from a game on the Thursday evening to work again on the Friday?

Then the next consideration is if it is played on a school night how does that encourage families to attend and yes the kids are on holidays this week?

And will Channel 7 or the WAFC provide miners' lamps for the spectators so they can read their budget?

As an aside are the attendance figures available somewhere?

800 I believe 42...but it's the tv viewing audience which is more important to Channel Eagle. Apparently Thursday night games rate pretty well.

Play all the Subi games on Thursday night. It is important that the Wafl doesn't clash with Afl fixtures. Most importantly our local Afl sides.
Why doesn't channel 7 move it to a summer night series.

The previous Thursday night game was the highest rating game of the season so there might be something there.
Doesn't show on TV but the lighting definitely needs upgrading if they want supporters at these games. I really struggle to see properly being a one eyed Subi supporter!

I'd like to know what he based that comment on?
How is it staying ""relevant"" with dwindling attendances?
I know Subiaco originally embraced the Thursday night fixture in previous years. That doesn't mean they do so now?
I'm led to believe they only partook this season because they were "asked".
And with those miners lamps costing in the vicinity of 80 to 300 dollars, will the so called commission want to purchase them so people can see on a Thursday? Or will people have to buy their own or what?!
With the tail wagging the dog, why not simply disband the thing they call the 'commission' and be done with it? Surely that is another question needs asking!

Thanks for that BC. I was actually after all the attendance figures for this year.

By the way when did the game start?

So once again we have another example of a decision made that HAS ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with what is BEST for the WAFL.

Surely you can't be serious AR or did you mean that one of the two teams that played on the previous Wednesday should then play Subiaco the Staurday after?

A quick question: how many WAFL players or spectators want to play mid-week at night?

I think the number is not a counting number.

Swan 42: In my humble opinion there should be one game a week sharred by all the clubs throughout the season. The teams that play mid week should be drawn to play on a Sunday fo their next fixture.

It is no differnet to playing on Good Friday, Anzac Day or Easter Monday, all of which has been traditional in the competition, as you know. In addition to that, since the de-regulation of the labour market in the 1990s, players already manage work commitments and football.

The good thing about my proposal Swan 42, is that, we would have two games of football coverred each week, coverage we never had during the hayday of the WAFL.
