News is apparently breaking that the New England Patriots are going to offer the WAFC $1b US to take over the Dockers licence.

A Patriots spokesman is saying that they will field players in the Dockers games to work on their punting accuracy and length, tackling and running.

"This just makes sense as far as next steps for our organization go" said the dude. "We want our players to be able to punt under high pressure and learn to tackle in the best possible environment and that is what the AFL offers." "Also", he continued, "we want our running backs to experience real pressure when they are carrying the ball. We understand they will be whistled after 15 metres but they'll just keep running until someone stops them."

The WAFC says that it expects criticism if it does sell the licence but says "money is money" and points out that teams play in the WAFL competition simply to prepare to play for another team in another competition so can't really see the problem.

"The precedent is there" says dude at WAFC who knows nothing about footy. "If the integrity of the WAFL can be compromised for money and because bigger clubs get to push smaller clubs around why can't the same go for the AFL and its clubs!!"

The New England Patriots dude reassured that the Dockers history would be respected and that they would be playing to win the 2 points (sic) every week.

"Dockers fans should embrace this exciting opportunity which guarantees their financial future when the outcome of the playing at the new stadium remains unknown. We are committed to respecting their traditions and history, which should not be hard given they are really just a franchise imposed on WA by the AFL and have never won anything."
