This years Masters AFL competition was just held in Victoria. A mate's son played & they were told NOT to be referred to as WA or Western Australia. Comp was for over 35's, 40's, 45's, 50's and to male & female. No support from WA football what so ever. Extremely poor & WA plus WAFL should be ashamed of this. All other states were official state teams.. BUGGER WAFL.

LS specifically who told them they couldn't compete as WA or Western Australia? Let's name and SHAME them.

My contempt for the WAFC and the AFL has no bounds. We need a razor gang to go through the entire WAFC structure. Get rid of the dead wood and replace them with those who are genuinely interested in WA footy.

Before you get your knickers in a twist Swan42 and blame the WAFC and AFL for any and everything you don’t like that happens in footy you might want to know that there has been a heap of in-fighting at the WA Masters, and major differences of opinion between WA Masters and the national body for a number of years. Break away ‘State’ sides have travelled to the national carnival without the support of the WA Masters Board, who weren’t willing to send a side, so the break away WA sides that went probably choose to call themselves the black ducks.

Another apologist post for the WAFC and the VPL.

No just facts Swan42

National Carnivals
There is a National group not affiliated with the AFL that stages an annual carnival at the end of each season at which most States and Territories are represented. AFLMasters WA is not associated or affiliated with that group. Those carnivals are held on a rotational basis between participating States and Territories. In keeping with our philosophy of "FOOTBALL FOR KICKS" AFL Masters WA players are free to apply to play in other state representative teams that are participating in those Carnivals by applying to and registering with the state with which they wish to play. If selected to play with a given state at any of those carnivals players must meet all of the costs associated including air fares, accommodation, registration, playing uniforms etc. Western Australia is not a member of the group that runs those Carnivals and this state does not field state representative sides to play in those carnivals. Players from WA that wish to attend those carnivals that are prepared to play with another state or territory do not in any way represent AFL Masters WA.

yes it's shit ... quite a few WA boys travelled over and played for other states. There are plenty of players that would love to represent WA and travel over for these carnivals.

We get emails from WA masters saying they are not participating and have no affiliation and one of the emails i read last year or this year said we are not to say we represent WA masters (or along those lines).

My old man played for WA at one stage on the masters tours but it's been a few years since WA masters has submitted a team and i can't tell you why.
