Mate, if a first up flag cant get them in , they are never coming.

42 pretty sure we could use the standard NZ Olympic per capita logic in there as well mate....as folk have mentioned before stats dont always tell the true picture.....similar to the free kicks for and against argument...the overall tally means nothing....unless they are broken down to when and where they are achieved.......both you and Bazza have sound arguments I reckon to put forward.

Talking per capita Freeze, it would be only fair that EF and SF have factored in their attendances have to compete with Fremantle Football Club which is the ONLY suburb based and branded AFL Club in the City/State. give the enourmous burden that places on two small WAFL clubs supporter and sponsor wise to get attention - its an abosulte outstanding tribute to both clubs they garner the support they do.

I look forward to Swans competing with a Midland/Basso based AFL ( The Midland Mingers) club and seeing how they fare, especially the famed Eastern Derby that is known the length and breath of Australia and has been breaking attendance records since the 1950's.

SF are only 56 average ahead of SD despite having the luxury of playing on EVERY PUBLIC HOLIDAY availabile in the 2017 footy season so far to Swans nil...hardly chest beating stuff!

Think SF are considered one of the most exciting WAFL clubs in terms of talent...especially on paper....can see why SF get the public holiday games....EF are just riding on SF coat tails due to the tradition of Fremantle contests...sadly of late EF havent come to the party....not too sure SD v SF would attract the same intetest...perhaps between certain bethren brotherly types...but just not enough competitive longevity there build upon within this current WAFL climate besides those early 80s contests.....not too sure who SD could play on a public holiday?....Perth havent played finals since when?....hardly media inspiring stuff eh? I guess the WAFC simply go with the tried and tested fixturing og Perth and Freo derbies...not imaginative or fair I have to say....but just how it is

Fremantle are just a name in the AFL, no longer based there and dropped their Fremantle identity plus many of their fans never barracked for SF or EF..what an excuse
Beneath the Southern cross i stand, on Bassendean Oval, can in hand, Swan Districts, you Farkin Beauty!

There's no point talking about attendances to which club has better over the other. Attendances started to decline way back in 1987 and have been going down ever since. People are just not interested in WAFL footy, simple as that. They have other things to do on a Sat arvo. I popped into Lakeside Joondalup on the way to the game on Sat and it was like Christmas. Hard to find parking and people everywhere. I bet if I did a survey to how many people have ever attended a WAFL match there wouldn't be too many.

There are some funny posts on here, but for me the debate should be the total number of people whom go to the football each week. The WAFL used to get 50,000 or so each week -- see round 1 1980 -- the AFL has never had that since 1987. It will be very interestting to see how many the WCE and Fremantle get at this bigger Burswood Ground, particularlly if they start to struggle.

That's the sad fact, and the WP move to Joodny hasn't captured the local populations imagination as they thought it would.

Yep that's it - mate, tried a true - sadly WAFL still on pre 1987 legacy life support.
