If the colts are taken from the WAFL clubs then the WAFL is DEAD.

Fortunately they haven't been. WAFC staff have been involved in our programs for a decade. Nothing changes there.

Draft money...now thats another story.....we need to ask for compensation

How can you say that nothing will change regarding the colts? Firstly, the clubs will have no say in the selection and appointment of the colts' coaches. Secondly, they may not even train at their "club's" ground. There will be no interaction between the colts' players and the ressies and league players. The colts' players will not be available for selection in a WAFL club's reserves or league team.

Peel need the Dockers so that's fine.

West Coast have built a new oval and have a back up ammos squad to fill the gaps.

The ressies and colts will have a bye against them...but that's ok

We ran out of money and the punters don't watch us anymore despite the outstanding level of play this year.

I've watched the SANFL this year. They've fallen behind us....I wouldn't have said that 5 years ago but still the public won't get behind us

LaH there are couple of factors relating to the removal of the colts from the WAFL clubs that will result in the demise of the WAFL. The first will be a complete disconnect between the colts' players and the WAFL clubs. The second, whilst probably not including in a WAFL club's budget, is the removal of any draft fees to the WAFL clubs. Whilst the report doesn't rule out the WAFL clubs getting mature age players' draft fees, there is an expectation that will also be removed from the WAFL club. This will materially affect the clubs' bottom lines and it will also mean fewer players available to play in the ressies and league.

Everything will be roughly the same with colts. Same 9 teams, same names, same zones, same colours, same coaches. The funding changes

It's up to the WAFL clubs to insist that they play on the same day as the league at the same venue. If they cave in to the AFL, then we have weak club leadership

Yes, the loss of draft money is massive.

LaH the ONLY TWO things that will be the same as this year are that the "teams" will wear jumpers that are remarkably similar to the WAFL clubs' jumpers and the "teams" will go by the names of the WAFL clubs. That is all that will remain the same.

WAFL Council of Presidents should have allowed them to enter the comp with their own teams and paid for the privelege..

Why should they? That is an even worse solution than the host club alignment.

Lesser of two evils, there is no other way around it unfortunately

I don't know if anyone is aware but I have it on very good authority that the WAFL/WAFC are doing away with the Reserves competition all together next season and clubs will just have larger league squads.
This will mean more player coming back to Ammos and country leagues no doubt and less umpires required at WAFL level.
