Another good article in today's paper from John Townsend talking about the alignment between West Coast and East Perth.
I, like a lot of you have NEVER been for the alignment and never will.
The more this is put out there, the better it will be for the Royals and the WAFL.........hopefully.
I was listening to the Subi East Perth on 91.3 fm on Friday and the comments made by the panel were very similar to Johns article.
Good on John for supporting the WAFL.

Agree...

WAFL Council of Presidents should have allowed them to enter the comp with their own teams and paid for the privelege..

Wouldn't surprise me if Howson & his brood apply to be the 3rd Vicco side after all this ends
Been trying for 37 years now & counting

Why should they? That is an even worse solution than the host club alignment.

LaH let's not forget "the once in a lifetime opportunity" report from BCG and fully ENDORSED by the WAFC extends the host club alignment. Would it be reasonable to infer from that that BCG did not consult anyone other than the WA domiciled AFL teams and the WAFC?

Unfortunately if the WCE get their own side it won't be topped up with Amateurs - they'll get out of zone/recruiting concessions , bank on it.
Then again , could be a surplus of players if it all falls over

Yeah well I think we know they'll be more than amateur B or C graders

I think they'll sit & wait for the first one to fold - now the report's out that is

If the colts are taken from the WAFL clubs then the WAFL is DEAD.

Peel need the Dockers so that's fine.

West Coast have built a new oval and have a back up ammos squad to fill the gaps.

The ressies and colts will have a bye against them...but that's ok

We ran out of money and the punters don't watch us anymore despite the outstanding level of play this year.

I've watched the SANFL this year. They've fallen behind us....I wouldn't have said that 5 years ago but still the public won't get behind us

LaH there are couple of factors relating to the removal of the colts from the WAFL clubs that will result in the demise of the WAFL. The first will be a complete disconnect between the colts' players and the WAFL clubs. The second, whilst probably not including in a WAFL club's budget, is the removal of any draft fees to the WAFL clubs. Whilst the report doesn't rule out the WAFL clubs getting mature age players' draft fees, there is an expectation that will also be removed from the WAFL club. This will materially affect the clubs' bottom lines and it will also mean fewer players available to play in the ressies and league.

Sorry mate but given the significant amounts of $$$ raked in each year by these 2 sides , I find it hard to understand how football is in such a poor state (again given that originally each was to sustain WA footy during constant drain of players & sponsors to a "premier league")
Instead it looks like we have 2 new training ovals we can't access & by all accounts no flowback of funds - farking beautiful
