Interesting article in todays West pre-game liftout about Swans looking to poach Mzungu away from Perth with a lucrative offer of a package that could make him the WAFL's highest paid player!!! Where did Swans suddenly get all the money from? Apparently they only use local talent for their team according to our Bogundean friends coz they have no money.

The article goes on to say that swans are second only to Subi as far as spending on their football department goes for the last 2 years. They apparently spent over $1 mill on that department in each of 2011, 2012 & 2013 then cut it to $859k in '14 but upped it again in '15 to $912k, so is this a reflection of a struggling club that a year or two ago couldn't pay it's bills or tax responsibilities? Based on the last 2 years on field performances that indicates they have a highly inefficient footy department that's leaking money.

Also seems there's been a falling out between Swans & Crowley, seems Crowley will keep his $19k sign on fee whether he goes to Swans or not, with Bottrel only commenting that they expect that fee back, not that his contract demands it's return. Another piece of poor management by the sound of it.

On a really positive note for the Ducks, Bottrell is confident that veterans Ames & Simpson will play on next year.

The only comment I will make on the article is that it was written by John Townsend, enough said there as the man is full of inaccuracies and selective, almost vintictive journalism, as he has been exposed of in the past. The bloke is a flog.
Beneath the Southern cross i stand, on Bassendean Oval, can in hand, Swan Districts, you Farkin Beauty!

So that's it,it's all John Townsends fault.Pretty sure if his reporting is off the mark then Swans could get all Swan 42ish and mention legals.I reckon he is better than most of the other reporters anyway.

My surprise on that article was that Mzungu would be rated as being potentially the best player in the WAFL next year. Also that Swans seem to have gone cold on Crowley or vice versa...interesting to see how it plays out.

I would be surprised if Mzungu ended up at Swans. Firstly Fremantle haven't indicated their plans for him and he could be traded to another AFL club as part of a deal to get one of their targeted players. He is only 30 so he may represent some value to a club that is in a premiership window. If he does get delisted and wants to play at WAFL level I would think he would go back to Perth where he would be a one point player and certainly add experience and hardness to an improving team. In contrast Tendai would be a 12 point player at Swans which would give them very little wriggle room to recruit others and I don't think he adds that much value to justify the expenditure. As a general rule I think it is desirable for returning AFL listed players to go back to their club of origin but that obviously doesn't always happen for a variety of reasons.

The article jumps the gun.Mzungu is property of the Freo football club. And all AFL clubs have made approches to Freo over tradable players. As Mike saids wouldn't rule out Mzungu being traded in the draft.

Mayne has been spoken about in the draft Grassy.North Melbourne are really keen.If Mzungu not redrafted hope he goes back to Perth. If Swans recruit Mzungu there going to cop it like today's article in the West.

You only have to click on to Hackdorn articles to see how inaccurate they are, has one of his articles ever been on the mark

The reality is Townsend hasn't got a clue what Mzungo is doing if he gets delisted or what Freo are doing for that matter.

Interestingly the only "exclusive" I see from this Townsend piece is the fact Crowley has yet to pay back a sign on fee to SD and that he is a chance to now go back to Subi who a few of their posters on here were bagging the crap out of him when it was announced he had would play and coach for Swans in 2016! I wonder if they will change their tune if he indeed does end up at their mob?
