I thought I would start a little thread on Indigenous Captains in the WAFL - inspired by a post about Indigenous players at South Fremantle by Anchorman

Here are a few I can think of off the top -

Brad Collard - South Fremantle
Stephen Michael - South Fremantle

Indigenous premiership captains -

Keith Narkle - Swan Districts
Barry Cable - Perth and East Perth (Premiership capt/coach at East Perth)
Graham Farmer - West Perth (Premiership capt/coach)
Bill Dempsey - West Perth

Cant think of any more atm, even if it was for just a few games. There must be a few more?

Good topic mate, Keith Narkle was probably our most famous Indigenous captain lifting the cup up in both 83 & 84. Keith along with his brother Phil Narkle, Peter Ware, Troy Ugle & Garth Taylor have all skippered the Mighty Black & Whites in my time.
Was Stephen Michael a Premiership captain at SF in 1980? I have a vague recollection Noel Carter might have had the C next to his name tho i have tried to forget that particular GF! :pinch:
