Looks like Ryan Turnbull made the right choice by not following in his father/Grandfathers footsteps playing for SD....yeah he might of missed SD last true flag in 1990, but then he would of missed out on playing in premierships for Cl/EP & WCE....more importantly he got an education to boot at Christchurch Grammar

Claremont premiership side 1989
Claremont reserves premiership side 1990
East Perth best and fairest 1991, 1993, 1999
West Coast Eagles premiership side 1994
2nd Sandover Medal 1999, 2002
Sandover Medal 2001
East Perth premiership side 2001, 2002
Simpson Medal 2001, 2002
Western Australia captain 2002

Interesting to note though Laurie, Brian and Brett Peake are the only 3 direct father n sons to play state, whilst the Holdsworth and Turnbull connection is via Ryan Turnbulls mom marriage to SD legend Turnbull.....

Elsewhere I can only think of the Silvagni family for the big V perhaps?

Ok that complicates the matter... Not sure if John Turnbull and Ted Holdsworth not being blood relations can be classified as family then? Maybe they are not the answer to the question.
I know it's not my guess of the Mcintoshs now.

I am pretty certain that it is the DOIG family.
James (Jim) Doig, father of Ron Doig Snr and Dave Doig and grandfather of Ron Doig (Dave Doig's son) and Ron Bowe all represented WA in interstate football. So the direct family line over three generations is James Doig - Dave Doig - Ron Doig who represented WA.

Of interest is that 17 members of the DOIG family played league for either East Fremantle or South Fremantle plus two other members of the family played for Swan Districts.

Custy, were those two Doigs who played for SD were they simply black sheep of the family or two fella's seeking an easy avenue to playing WAFL at the time?....17 from ne family is an impressive number....does the Doig name even exist these days?.

Not sure about black sheep but I believe the two Doig boys who played for SD did so during or shortly after the Second World War. They were country boys from around Toodyay/Northam. Ron Doig (SF) who retired in 1967 was the last of the direct line of the Doig family to play league.
