Tony Micale was one of the commentators at the West Perth v East Perth game and during his summary he expressed his frustration at the contrast between the falcons and the royals club culture. His view was that East Perths history and tradition was being lost and there were not enough players prepared to "bleed blue and black" when a game was on the line ( then again why would Lewis Jetta and Jamie Bennell bleed blue and black}. He was also saying that in the last quarter when East Perth needed to take a few risks to try and win the game they reverted to a boring defensive game akin to what Peel have done in some games where AFL selection becomes more important than winning a game of footy.
None of this is news to any of us of course, we know what is happening to our oompetition, but I thought it was interesting that a well respected ex coach of East Perth who has also had links with the Eagles admitting that this alignment model is ripping the heart and soul out of a club he loves.
Is this the same Tony Micale who dropped the Swans' colts' player who kicked our only two goals for the match against Claremont?
