I know logic is something that seems to be singularly lacking at the WAFC and reason similarly so: can anyone explain how reducing the WAFL fixturing by two rounds is supposed to help the financial position of the WAFL clubs?

If reducing the number of rounds does indeed help the WAFL clubs; perhaps we should go back to 10 rounds: imagine how much better the clubs would be then with all that additional saving?

How about another possibility: the WAFL clubs pick and choose the clubs they want to play and whether it should be a home game or an away game.

Of course, COULD THE REAL REASON to reduce the number of rounds to 18 is BECAUSE THAT is WHAT THE AFL is aiming for?

Is it possible, JUST ONCE, the WAFC will make a decision that ACTUALLY HELPS THE WAFL CLUBS and COMPETITION?

Just when you thought that you couldn't hold the WAFC in more contempt they manage to do something that exacerbates that contempt.

Talking to someone the other day about this. Currently the half way mark of the season is Round 2 of week 12. Going out to week 18 takes it to the first week of Round 3. Assuming a 23 week season, that's 5 weeks of footy are lost. Not sure how that makes sense? Does that mean that all sports are going to be running on a reduced season to save money? And if not, why not?
What's supposedly good for one, will be good for all the other sports.
Then the question needs asking what influence did the crappy telecaster have in the decision. And for what reason. If in support of idea, are they going to support other sports having a shorter season?

The mind boggles. Have they spoken to the players to see if they are interested in a 10% pay cut?

I can hardly wait to see the cost benefit analysis to see how they think they can save unless it is predicated on the belief that the club's lose money on each home game and if that is the case then let's go back to a 2 game season - just think how much the clubs will save!!!!!!

This is what happens when sport becomes a business!
You get bloody accountants running the show. Do I care if my club makes a profit of X dollars at the end of the year? No I only care how many games we win and if we win the GF. Do I want to go to less games each year ? no why would I , I enjoy going to the footy and I don't care if it seem too long a season for the pencil pushers!!!

Start the season one week earlier cut the fixturing to 18 games then the wafl could finish their finals before the afl starts. Solves many problems. Firstly no afl players will be able to play in the wafl finals or secondly if the clubs backed this idea see the eagles and dockers throw more money at the comp so they could have players playing in the wafl finals. They both want their borderline players to be getting match time during the afl finals.

More pressing would be to cut the length of the quarters in each game rather than the length of the season!

Actually Swan mate - I get scared when those good for nothing WAFC wankers make decisions
I have even less than zero trust of their "charter"
We had 21 games a year for decades - until their stroke of Teal brilliance down in Car Theft , House Break-in & Methlabsville down there
The fixturingss are bad enough now just leave it the fark alone

Taking the byes into consideration, each team will have 15 matches if a season is changed to 18 weeks. Not the current 20 games from 23 weeks.
Can only hope it remains unchanged!
