Bob Miller and Arthur Marshall - the mainstays of TVW7 WAFL coverage until the WCE came along.

Jim Fitzmaurice was one of the best for ABCtv (Perth) in the 1960's

I well remember as a schoolboy sitting up in the WACA public stand, next to the open cubicle they called a broadcast box, and watching Shield games while listening to Ron Halcombe broadcasting.
Ron was a great broadcaster and his knowledge of the game was second, probably, only to the great Alan McGilvray.
A little known fact these days is that Ron Halcombe was also one of WA's greatest fast bowlers who also played a part in cricket admin in WA especially in the battle to get Sheffield Shield status for the State in the late 40s.
WA actually won the Sheffield Shield in it's first season in the competition 1947/48.

Mike McCann was good. Still is I guess.

Also a commentator who went and did the races. Name escapes me. Also wrote for Westside Football for a while.

I reckon Frank Sparrow was King - he was a bloody legend.

Arthur Marshall I reckon was a bit of an arrogant tosser.

Pretty much loved all the rest not to mention John K Watts, Gary Carvolth, Harvey Deagan,Percy Johnston ( a bit crazy) and the ABC crew.

Not sure about his younger days, but George was terribly inaccurate in his AFL eagles days.

Can anyone guess what John Vukman is most famous or infamous for? Plus Eric Sarich and Cometti didnt seem to get on that well either!

With fond memories of the 6PR footy shows at pubs prior to WAFL games I ripped in to JK Watts at a fundraiser at a Bussleton pub in the early nineties. he yelled out 'Do you wanna hear a joke" I replied - East Perth are a joke.. And that was my big mistake as I proceeded to cop shit from him the rest of the night!
