re: Perth to become Perth Eagles
As much as I hate to say, the Perth footy club Prez is rubbing his hands with glee in anticipation of doing so. I feel the Perth supporters pain!
re: Shorter season
This already being in the pipeline (possibly happening next season?) The telecaster not wanting a 3 round, 23 week qualifying season. The Wafl will either start much later or finish earlier than currently stands.
re: SUBI oval will be a block of flats
The state government is trying hard.

Yep all these things are in motion, anyone who says otherwise is a deluded denialist.

merged clubs could be sf and ef maybe ep and perth give the merger about 10 yrs to happen but on the way, other stuff is on the way earlier.

The clubs would be :

SF and EF merged - Freo rivalry is dead, form one superclub team called Fremantle

Perth and East Perth merged, EP shot themselves in the foot, Perth basket case for 4 decades

Swans - biggest following must be stand alone, owns the Eastern Corridor

West Perth - next biggest following must be stand alone, owns Northern corridor

$ubi - Cashed up for eternity will survive nuclear holocaust

Claremont - No fans left but enjoy the fruits of the silverspoon, private school footy belt for players, and some wealthy supporters

Peelmantle - Don't know if this will last or they will relocate and call themselves the Cockburn Cougars or something.

I none of the suggestions on this thread happens, but its ominous that something will

Swans will end up alone due to location nothing to do with imagined follwing. But dont be surprised if financials result in them looking for options.

Perth are rooted and will be sucked up by eagles.

WP location once again the key, all about northern growth. 2nd biggest following dont think so.

Sf and Ef merge makes sense, will be contenants at freo soon. The Bullsharks v Perth Eagles. The nee derby 2025.

As far as I'm aware, East Fremantle Oval is still on the real estate developers radar. When it's sold and turned into housing is when East Fremantle will ground share with Souths at Fremantle Oval. That's when the merger will happen.

Something many have not thought of- is I wonder what happens with the entity formally known as east perth? When big business pulls out of there, they'll have no coach, no staff or players left! What happens then? Will too much money need to be spent building East Perth again? If the so called east perth folds completely, it still leaves a nine team uneven comp. If too much money needs spending rebuilding and establishing the old East Perth, would it be worth doing so? How much money would be needed to re-staff and entice players back there? Would players wish to go back after the current shambles? Can the so called football commission ever be trusted again?
Just a couple of thoughts whilst thinking aloud.

And no supporters

Talking about subi are we?

My point Chaddy is just that there won't be many supporters left by the time the Eagles are done with you. The traditional ones are dropping off and news ones ain't coming. My clubs doing fine thanks, yours is sadly a hollow shadow of its former self.

Get into your Boards and Presidents ears and help them convince the Clowns at the WAFC and the AFL,things like the above should NOT happen.

Otherwise, those clowns themselves will have Nothing Left at State League Footy.

Those 2 Deluded Sets of Powerbrokers might think they can shape or Shitshape football in their image, but if the legacy they want to remembered for is Total Ruination of Football,We should shove 'Em OUT THE DOOR,or.......doesn't bear thinkin'about about.

Thats a bit rich for a bloke who was a member of Perth and sat by and did sfa while they voted Peel in. Proving the fact as if it needs to be proven that some wafl boards will do whatever they are told to do.

I reckon claremont would be up for a merger, their new homeground would be an attractive lure to a homeless broke club.

If mergers can happen in far stronger comps like the Sanfl and Afl they will happen in Wafl.

That's why we had so many supporters at the GF last year. All subi supporters having a day trip from Karrakatta nursing home.

There was a very strong push for Subi & Claremont to merge around the time Subi were pressured out of Subi Oval. Our original plan put forward by the board was to ground share a redeveloped Claremont oval which seemed a logical move for the two western suburbs clubs, but the then Council wouldn't have a bar of it as they wanted Cl permanently at the showgrounds so they could sell off the whole oval precinct. If Subi & Claremont had merged it would have created a premiership factory with Subi's money and football department and Claremonts deluxe junior pipeline.

Peelmantle
EP to move to Lathlain and stay absorbed by WC
Perth and Swans to cotenant at Basso with the redevelopment and eventually merge.
Su
WP
CL, longshot to merge with Subi as Subi don't need to.
EF & SF to co-tenant at Freo - longshot to merge, too much history & hatred.

Yep remember that , the monts and subi would make a super club, a talent goldmine.

Mate cant see how EP will move to latho, given perth have signed a deal with the budgies for the new complex, but maybe you are right there may well be a clause that gives WCE a final say on what happens, but there is no way WCE are building a state of the art facility and then having their reserves stuck across town at Leederville. Either Perth become the host club or EP move in and P move out.

Sd And P make sense.

sf and ef are a strong possibility, hatred yes , but in a decade or two it will be historical.

Anyone see the article on Ep moving to the Waca?
