I will say however,$15 entry is absolutely absurd! Shouldn't even be $10!

$15 is not keeping people away, it is not a high price at all.
The young generation simply have no interest other than a mate playing, they are not raised with the WAFL a large part of their life it is all AFL to them.
I would highly doubt if many 18-25 year olds could name all the WAFL clubs.
Promotion of the comp is the big problem but it's also clear the WAFC will not increase that. The clubs themselves are handed X amount from the WAFC to shut their mouths and they seem happy also.
Other than some multi millionaire taking on the WAFL the future is what we see today and worse as the years go by, I doubt their will be WAFL on tv after this current contract.
All the reasons all point to what the AFL wants which is no competition at all, no other leagues thriving and no other comps ever being an option for the younger generation.
I just can't see for the life of me how it will change as much as I wish it could.

Wrong
My old man won't go because it's $15 entry! Then you add on the extra for a few beers and a feed. He's a former player who grew up in Bazzo and loves the club. He'd rather spend that money on a cheep beers at home and a flutter.

And if I was to take my family, mrs and 3 kids, it would cost me at least $50 and closer to $100 a week. That's not viable with a mortgage etc etc

It could be free entry and no more would go, other than the odd person on here I have never heard that $15 is expensive and I go to the WAFL regularly.
Make it free and the WAFL needs even further funding, where does that come from?
Mate I don't have the answers but I just don't see the WAFL as an expensive thing to go and watch and it certainly is not the reason people don't go in my opinion.

The WAFC Executive should quit niw as well. They're a Disgrace in assisting the AFL to keep us under their Thumb!

Well can you provide another reason why the WAFC is not heavily promoted with tv shows, radio shows etc like the AFL is?
The WAFC do nothing as they are instructed to do, they were told to partner channel 7 obviously as channel 9 and 10 could not even get a meeting with them.
The WAFC are all hand picked puppets who will tow the AFL line.

If you have the answers mate I would love to hear it, not wishes but actual answers. It ain't going to change.

Spot on that's the facts and where we are at The AFL dominates and we just make up the back ground the young people have now 30 yrs of Eagles and once the dockers came in that was it rooted all the hype is about the AFL starting this week I looked around the club yesterday there was virtually no one under 40 most over 50 or more.

Grassy who is this ghost army that will storm the Bastille you have lost it , they could not even stop the alignment stop giving up deluded dreams.

15 bucks is Sfa these days and your old man is probably a senior so gets concession kids are free try buying a ticket to the bloody afl costs a mint or a concert 100 plus these days for any show even glory charge 25 Bucks for general admission it's not the cost if it was Subi would be empty for the Eagles who charge a friggen mint.

Baz -- pensioners pay 12.00 which is steep.

The PFC has done stalls in the local shopping centres in the past, and basically, it was a flop. People confused the club with Melbourne, which a sad indictment on this state; but, it does demonstrate that the problem is one of promotion more than anything else.

I don't blame the Victorians and their Western Australian allies for not promoting the WAFL, the two things are in competition, albeit asymmetrical competition.

$15 is cheap and unlike Brett Raponi I don't pretend I've got no cash and usually give the junior raffle around $15 as well.

I'm not saying it should be free but it should be $8 for adults, def no more than $10! And if people want a book they'll buy one!!! And just in reference to your comment without a doubt more people would go if it was free! The other thing, people who go these days are just the die hards and they won't complain cos they live it,you can't hear the others cos they aren't there.

How they make up the difference, well, less is more sometimes!

Here is my opinion:

reduce the entry fee to $12.00 adults, $9.00 for concession and free entry for all students (primary, secondary and tertiary, tafe etc.)

if people want a budget they can buy one for $3.00

Of course this is peripheral to the most likely reason for the diminishing crowds:

the host club alignment and Subiaco's financial dominance that plays directly to the discontent of the current WAFL competition.

As disappointing as our league performance was at East Freo, why would anyone support East Perth after their performance on Saturday?

My estimate of the crowd at East Freo was a highly optimistic 1400

Look, even if you make it free, I seriously doubt it would result in an increase, anyone remember dollar days at sheffied shield I think it was , did that last ? Did it bring in 1000s more, nup, nobody gives a shit about the event thats the issue.

Big name players and contests bring crowds not free entry.

1400 would be about right at EF oval judging by the lack of cars when I drove past.

Reducing the entry fee won't make any difference. People just don't support the WAFL today, especially the young teenagers/adults. People are set in their ways. They don't like change. You get the same old people supporting their team week in, week out.
