Hi Caz

I have written plenty of stories on players of the past from all clubs and would be happy to share any with you if you want them.

There is a private message function above right that you can use to contact me or I'm sure Ozfooty.net would put you in touch with me if you contact them.

Your Dad was a good player and I did try to find him to do a story but was unsuccesfull.

Regards

oos

I have just come across this site tonight after doing a google search on my dad, Doug Simms. :) I am so happy to see some old articles about him! I am trying to find some more of the oldies and would LOVE to know if you have any more/if you are able to let me know the best way to go about finding them?

Really looking forward to hearing back from you soon.

Caris Simms

Caz your Dad Doug was a good footballer for Perth in the early 80's before moving to West Perth in the mid 80's. I was only a kid back then but I do remember him being a very good kick & especially dangerous around the goals.
Doug's brother Wayne was also a very good footballer who played for WA but unfortunately knee injuries finished his career after moving to my club Swan Districts from Perth.
Good memories of both the Simms boys in the halcyon era of WAFL footy.

Hi Caris, Yeh your dad was a very handy player when I was a kid! I retrieved these pics and articles from the Battye Library in Perth on the 3rd floor. They have all the old newspapers on microfilm and anyone can go and search in there and all you have to do is bring a USB and scan them onto that. If you want more help send me a PM. I have old footage featuring him too

I loved watching the Simms players. Ask them to get along to Lathlain and see the improvement this year.
Victorians still laugh at West Aussies because of the way we bailed out the vfl and then allowed it to be called it the AFL!

Love the new site on FB Just put lost WAFL into the search box up the top of your page to find it and LIKE it..

Could get a bit large in the end and to go through them all will be an interesting time. You can post pics etc there but think they have to be re hashed to come up by the Admin on the site so a bit of double handling.

I have a lot of stuff so will chuck it on here in dribs and drabs.. Will keep it up near the top as well.. Hope it doesnt overload the capacity of this site?

Heres a couple I just put on that are very interesting.. Gee they had some young guys running around in the early days..And some oldies

Oldest players in the WAFL

Youngest players in the WAFL

I dont think you know what you have started here SWANDOG...I cant really think of another site that actually shows pics of the Good days of the WAFL?
We have that great video site that is incredible
www.waflvideoarchive.webs.com/

We have Footyfacts that has all the stats you would ever need
waflfootyfacts.net/index.html

Etc etc.. I have a couple more but nothing that specifically covers pics and Text stuff like above.

Great to see. We have a few who dont use Facebook so no probs putting on here I hope. I worry about the capacity of this site in storage as they must have a limit? Mike could most probably tell us that.

All sounds good to me as I Love anything from the WAFL era and the memories it brings back. This topic would be great during the Off season just to keep us interested

73 GF Subi and WP

Some memories of the BIG move by WP.. At the time it most probably seemed like a good idea. Personally like a lot of WP supporters we hated it. Them money spoke of course as it is now.. Click on the pics for larger image
