Channel 10 news tonight reported that East Perth were not too happy with the alignment arrangements and were looking at returning to a stand alone club by 2017 and the Eagles to field their own team. I would prefer that than how it currently stands.

Like the sound of that.East Perth have some strong City and Country zones. There is an argument for the Royals to get some more growth metropolitan zones.
Like 10 WAFL Teams.Everyone plays twise both home and away.East Perth have no troubles surviving without the alignment.Peel are another story, hope they stay with Freo.
In the SANFL the Crows and Port Adelaide alignment sides have there AFL listed players. The rest of the teams are made up of UNDER 23 Players. That has to be the benchmark that we should use in WA.

Hope this is true. It would be great to have the real East Perth back.

So much for East Perth not being able to fend for themselves and going broke if not aligned to the Weagles..shows they were only interested in fraudulent success

Very sceptical on this report...

WAFC TRIED the alignment once and it died and failed back again when EP and Peel going broke. :(

Bad decisions by an incompetent Governing body THE WAFC

EP should just combine with Perth and back to a 8 team comp.

2002
East Perth's board announce, after a vote of support from members at the AGM, that the club will leave Perth Oval and move to Leederville Oval. The move comes about with the goverment working through a plan to consolidate some existing and required sporting venues.
East Perth's arrangement with the West Coast Eagles comes to a close a year sooner than agreed when the WAFL decides that it no longer wants host/aligned club situations. East Perth threatens legal action but in the end decides not to proceed despite having a very good case.

2012

East Perth, through the board and without member consultation, agree to become "partner" club to the West Coast Eagles for 5 years. In brief this means that all unrequired players at the West Coast Eagles will play for East Perth. The decision was initially met with a lot of disdain by a lot of members, however after an information evening the majority in attendance accepted that the financial stability offered by the deal made it worthwhile. Without it East Perth would be in danger of being forced to merge or closing up. While some transition will occur in 2013 (East Perth give up their Dockers players and get all new interstate Eagles recruits), the partnership won't come into full effect until 2014.

EP LOSERS ON THE HIGHEST LEVEL..
This message represents the official view of the voices in my head

Crying over spilt milk is what is going to happen now.

A/man why should they have their own reserves' team? For those who are interested in the WAFL league, reserves' and colts competitions' what will happen to the fixturing of the colts and reserves matches with the AFL reserves' teams? The answer IS NOT WHO GIVES A STUFF.

Let's go back to the pre-host club alignment.

Even someone with the most cursory knowledge knows it would be impossible for an AFL squad to field two full sides every week , they simply would not have the numbers to do it, the only option is the absorbtion of another WAFL club and that will be Perth when they re locate to Lathlain, anyone who thinks WCE will do a complete reconstruction of Lathlain without any implications on the Perth FC are deluded.
