And the local media has a lot of explaining to do.
I went offline over the weekend and then relied on the local tv and radio to deliver a game report. BIG MISTAKE THAT WAS!
How stupid was I to think that!
In this area, 21 tv and 5 digital radio stations occupy the screen. There is 5 AM radio stations on the wireless.
Not one of mentioned electronic outlets even acknowledged the State game being played!
I believe one of the Perth FM radio stations took the broadcast (that's fantastic for people living in the metro area). And I think an Adelaide FM radio station took a call across to Adelaide.
Why was there no tv broadcast!? I wonder if officialdom realise rural people like footy too? I turned abc radio on at 2.30pm and there was simply nothing there! No state game on the abc radio.
No mention of the match on the local radio stations either. The way the local media are behaving, it's like the match doesn't exist.
Never saw the tv news on Saturday, apparently the national broadcaster showed the final score. But if you blinked or sneezed at the time, it would have been missed!
But on the next scene, they had oodles of time to show all the rugby results(with plenty of time to video highlights) from the eastern states. Plenty of air-time to discuss tennis from France (again with video highlights) from half way around the world. The England and New Zealand test match (all the way from the UK)also got a good airing with video highlights. The European cycling event received plenty of reporting. Yet an Interstate game being played just down the road gets ignored!?
The local media needs a bloody good shake-up.

LOL WAG, can't believe I could watch the game over here in NZ and you live in WA and had no way of getting a score!......over here they have stopped doing their one telecast of AFL games live on a weekend for a Pro Surfing channel....FMD......there is an even a channel over here that shows high school rugby games.......and amatuer level rugby games....

Cardy, my assumptions and statements are no more sweeping than yours mate..such as....WP have reserve players who would be walk up starts in most WAFL clubs!....as do Subi and SF reserves teams........Keunen was BOG v EF yet his direct opponent who isnt a specialist ruckman had more marks same number of possessions and one less ruck knock than Chris!......pretty sure Johnson wouldnt of let Young have similar stats......anyway as you say Keunen has moved on, but obviously you and growler have taken a bit longer to do so....touch wood then Chris can dominate Johnson and put some egg on the faces of Harris, Dimmer, Valentine and Micale instead of you WP fans!.....BC is a lively poster mate not too sure what the sad face is all about......

For the lack of coverage of the WA v SA game, I blame the WAFC. Surprise! Surprise!

With both WA's AFL teams playing on Saturday, there was no way the Fixtures Committee couldn't have switched the match to Sunday. Then Channel Arrogant would have had no excuse for not televising it.

They paid zillions to take the WAFL broadcast rights off the ABC (again thanks to the WAFC) but didn't think that a State game no less would have appeal to WA fans.

You can bet your whatsit that Aunty would have done it.

Which leads to my question.

With the match staying on Saturday and Channel A deciding the AFL was more important, could not 2 have been given the rights just for the day?
