I know it is a road already trod but BC I think you would find, truth be told, that he had convinced them but it was down to the Nesbitt and I think he hated us more than he could your club.

Swans will not be merging with Perth LB. Delude yourself some other way. I and probably at least 80 % of the rest of the Swans' supporters would walk away from the WAFL.

Swan 42.
I can assure you we won't take your debt.

DF it won't happen because the Swans' board know what the inevitable consequences of such a proposal would be.

I agree with Swan42. I will support the current Swan Districts club that I have followed since I was a little tacker. They represent the community of Bassendean, Midland, Swan Valley etc as well as their country zone.

In this sense I am happy to contribute financially to the club as a member because of how much enjoyment they have given to me following them through the premierships, finals, even the tough years there have been some positives including the development of players like Nic Nat and Michael Walters to name a few.

If Swans were to either merge with another club or align with an AFL franchise, that would completely change the nature of what the club is, they would not be representing the communities that I outlined above so would be a new entity altogether. I would therefore want no part in that and would walk away.

Having said that I know that the reality is that football is much more about business plans and profit margins than community recreation and sport these days and that if I am more interested in the latter, it may be good to start following an amateur team.

Interesting point Mike. I have always said that if EFFC were Freo's alignment club I would walk away. But when I think about it a bit more, I can't imagine me being without them after following them for over 55 years. Still, I have refused to renew my WCE membership because of the alignment and will do so till it ends. So maybe I would walk away. Hopefully I will never have to face this decision.

Randall isn't at Subi anymore either. No doubt he holds a bit of clout though?

Quick question.

With West Coast out of finals contention would they be forcing anyone to play out the final series for East Perth or would it be players choice?

Only ask as I (like I am sure many of you have) heard the rumblings early on that players weren't happy playing against old clubs or for East Perth at all, yet reading todays article it appears that 12 out of the 15 that are qualified have put there hands up to play with 2 (Lycett & McGovern) in cotton wool till next season.

I am assuming West Coast would be leaving the choice with the players and removing those that needed surgery.

Wal, I cannot comment abt how players felt early on but after a few training nights when I had o go to Leederville I think there is a level of enthusiasm and good feeling, how deep it is who know's!

they certainly wouldn't be playing for the jumper...more likely playing for their mates or for some, their future if coming out of contract.

100% spot on. I can tell you that the likes of Hill, Sheed, Sinclair & McInnes wouldn't give a rats that past legends like Spencer, Kelly, Watts & Hayes will be watching, be lucky they even knew who they were!

All Eagles had the option I believe except the two big boys. I can tell most of you guys have never played much football. I probably played for fifteen clubs at various levels. I can promise you once you pull on any jumper you play for your team mates you play for the colours for the relationships you make with supporters etc. I played over 350 games of senior football and can honestly say I gave one hundred percent in every one. These guys are under the microscope if there is any sign of weakness they will be working nine to five jobs and reminiscing about the past with me.
