Maybe Rod Grilla and Pirate FM could team up with West TV Ch 44 and cover it next year with a difference, Rodney is a wildcat but quite entertaining

And here is stupid old me in the belief abc didn't believe or were not interested in ratings. I too am interested in what those figures actually mean? Are they percentage figures? Wonder how they were arrived at? Don't mean to sound ignorant, but just asking.

Table based on ratings

Peel - 4 games (2 home, 2 away): ave rating 15.50
East Fremantle - 6 games (3 home, 3 away): ave rating 15.40

Swan Districts - 4 games (3 home, 1 away): ave rating 11.00
Claremont - 5 games (2 home, 3 away): ave rating 9.00
South Fremantle - 5 games (1 home, 4 away): ave rating 8.75

Sorry Barney but can you explain what those numbers mean.

TV ratings are done by an independent company. They put data boxes in 1000's of houses around Australia, each TV in the house is connected. Residents have to log in when they start watching the TV and log out when they leave the room.

The data received is calculated as a % of TV's with ratings boxes viewing a particular show. Then the final ratings figure is obtained by assuming that the same % corresponds with all TV's in Australia (divided by 1000).

For example (guessing the data % and total TV's figures)
On average 0.7% of all the TV's with ratings data boxes watched WAFL
There are 2,000,000 TV's in Australia, 0.7% of 2,000,000 is 14,000.
The ratings for the WAFL is 14.

As SD said the ABC should look at an exciting caller ala Rod Grljusich and finally give Phil Lamb the flick as he makes the WAFL sound about exciting as synchronised swimming with his monotone coverage.
No one loves the WAFL more than me but even I have to turn the sound down whilst watching the replays so I don't have to listen to bloody Lamb mumbling his way thru 3 hours of footy!

That is correct Barney. I have one of those boxes and I have been logging in for almost 5 years now. I think 5 years is around the limit you can have one, so my time is probably coming to an end. Its been good though, as we've had a coupe of new TVs in that time, and each time "Nielson" send a tech out to set it all up, because they need to have it connected properly, so I haven't had to do anything.
An extra bonus is the points you receive as well to exchange for items/gifts.
The downside, it sure can get monotonous making sure you log in each time!

The sad thing is Rod Willett and Ken Judge make Phil Lamb look like a slick operator.

I dont mind the commentators to much, at least they played the game. Was told at Friday nights game that ABC are back on the radar cause funding is not eventuating. WAFC guru's are going to press the point harder with local sherrif at Aunty.

I don't mind judgy or lamb...it's rod willett i can't stand because he says "actually" about 10 times a sentence. but all in all if we accept they're not professional sportcasters such as commetti and co then i think they're ok.
