So the season is dusted for the Falcons but they have shown that the WAFL is alive and well and people are interested. 5300 at the game. WAFC should take note! So should take. The crowd really added something. Well done Falcons

Astro, Yep the cardinals did a good thing and always with this round do a great job, But as one work colleague said, he went cos it was free, nothing more nothing less. He had a good time and will go next year if he gets a free ticket. Another who is not in the JCC area wondered why he did not get a freebie, perhaps that is a WAFL issue for them to take up!

The sad truth is that it is still unattractive to folks cos of the price. All we and WP can hope is that some of the 5k who went will come again.

That is the challenge for all WAFL Clubs but they have made a start by getting them there. I did hear their CEO on the radio yesterday and he said the gate take was better than their average for the whole season and they sold a ton on merch. I just want to to see punters go and watch because the footy is better than the AFL

Hear Hear ASTRO... It was a good day (well except for our loss) but all that aside the atmosphere was brilliant. The Ressies game was a heart stopper with a chance to win the game on the siren so good lead in.

WAFL clubs have to start looking at Theme days that will bring the people in and from that a few might continue on after a good day of watching WAFL footy in comfort and a a low price or even free.
Our CEO was worried about gate takings with all the Free tickets but the bottom line is they still had a huge crowd and made money with merchandise. Maybe not so much from Bar or food sales as Events West takes the cream of that.
Other clubs would not have this problem.
All good for WAFL footy and hopefully other clubs will come up with some idea's
We had the NAIDOC game the week before so a big fortnight for the club.
Anzac Day is always a good one as well.

As I said on the WPFC Thread I was a bit concerned about the AFL exposure and them getting their little bit in. Not a major problem and didnt in the end make any difference. I did ask David Crute (CEO) about it but not much forthcomming basically said the WAFC threw a bit of support into it hence the AFL plugs????
Didnt pursue it any further because it was a good day.

I did put a post up re my concerns and I could of been over reacting but as with many WAFL Diehards I despise the WAFC and the AFL for interferring our great comp.

Heres the post I put up ozfooty.net/joomla16/forum/westperth/298...6?limitstart=0#48049

Haveing said all that though ASTRO has hit the nail on the head and good to see a topic on this game as the Feedback is needed. It was one of the best WAFL games (Ambience wise) I have been to for a long time.

Trust Subi to spoil the party for us WP fans :)

I heard there was fifty thousand tickets given away to the match, there would be a fair cost to that. Any initiative is better than doing nothing but I wonder how many actual supporters they will get out of it. If you turned it into five or ten members every year that would be a good result.

Yes and you could also print out the ticket off the WPFC home page as well.
Their was a contest attached to win a International day jumper signed by all the players. I went in that but paid my entry to support the club.

Grump says someone complained about the price at WAFL games. Last time I checked, ONE standing room ticket at an AFL game was $16 for ONE game. Attending a WAFL game day cost the same $16 for THREE games, so what are people whingeing about?????

Someone else's work colleague grizzled and whinged because he didn't get a freebie. Freebies had to be claimed and the were PLENTY for those that turned up. You could also print the tickets from the West Perth website, so I suggest this colleague missed out through being LAZY.

It's true that the WPFC do a great job with International Round. They are however, partners in this initiative and the real hero here is Andrew Ridley, who is the Falcons District Manager and has been for almost 6 years. He is an unsung hero and doesn't look for any kudos, but does a power of work to develop and promote the local District.
International Round was his initiative a few years ago and his team does an amazing job co-ordinating this event. The footy club also support it and they have certainly shown other WAFL Clubs what you can do with a bit of hard work and imagination.

I think $15 is a crazy price to attend a WAFL match. I would think free attendance would be a better idea but no more than $10.
