"If opposing sides breathed a sigh of relief when Don Marinko called it quits they wouldn’t have credited that another centreman just as good or better would emerge for the Cardinals." Ron Head, Past & Present Player's Tuesday, 27 May 2014.

Until reading this article about Mel Whinnen and Bill Dempsey posted on memory lane I had not heard of this name. Are there any fans of the oldest existing football club in W.A who can shed some light on this small matter - who is Don Marinko?.

Ron is a wealth of knowledge.

Speaking with Ron previously on the phone, he has talked with and written the stories of many WAFL players.

I'm sure Ron will be able to dig something up...

wikipedia has an entry for both Don Marinko Snr and Jnr(whom i assume is the Don Marinko mentioned in the Whinnen/Dempsey article).Don Marinko snr was named in the West Perth team of the century. Don Marinko jnr represented W.A on 12 occasions and also won a best and fairest for East Perth. But it would be great to hear first hand accounts of these players from fans who may know more, have heard about them or even better seen them play - though the later might be a tall ask.
