"Best moment in season so far"
Scratch match against WP; Paul Johnson meets Markus Adams
BANG ..... what's it like when moving object hits immovable force ... Johnson found out when he tried it on Markus... Johnsons big man reign is OVER as is his 'big mouth'

NOSTRODAMIS OF FOOTY
Dennis Commetti blogs – all coming to fruition!!

The deal is done. East Perth and Peel have rolled over without due regard for their fellow WAFL clubs.
The decision to anoint East Perth and Peel as host clubs for our two AFL teams is as risky as it is disappointing.
They have accepted too little and others will be hurt by their largesse.
Despite conventional wisdom, I'm far from convinced this grab for power by the Eagles and Dockers is a good move even in a competitive sense.
Under the existing structure (to apply for one more season) it's easy to argue West Coast is the most successful club of the AFL modern era.
Since 1987 the Eagles have played in 43 finals, the same number as Geelong.
People who dismiss West Coast's competition-high 43 finals appearances in the AFL or Fremantle's resurgence under Ross Lyon by suggesting 'we could have played in more finals previously' may be missing the point.
John Worsfold has said control of a WAFL club 'might give' his club 'an additional one percent', but what if he's wrong, either way?
Over-estimated, we're witnessing a body blow to the WAFL. Another act of disrespect! For what?
Under-estimated (let's say it's as high as 5 or 10 per cent), our clubs may actually pay in draft picks.
Sometimes there is disincentive to finish 15th or 16th when you could have finished 17th or 18th, trivial things like drafting the likes of Chris Judd or Nic Naitanui.
Small percentages only count when you're good enough to win it all!
Improving poor cattle mid-table during the ups and downs of AFL footy has counter-productive written all over it.
We are dealing with very quasi science here. Still, against a background of success, maybe in another 25 years we'll know the answer.
I'm in the minority but I find it a disappointing day for local footy.
I must have misunderstood. Is the saying 'if it ain't broke, break it'?
Ric Charlesworth, regarded as Australia's most successful active coach, is also confused.
Over lunch (something planned well before Tuesday night's decision), Charlesworth expressed concern and surprise at the Eagles' and Dockers' single-minded push for control.
He, like me, thinks diversity of coaching and ideas is a major plus and that the value of an outside environment with fresh challenges and different faces favours success.
He also thinks the Eagles are well placed to win next season's flag. No argument from me.
But how's the irony?
That's when you scrap the model?

Part II
The WA Football Commission's alignment strategy for West Coast and Fremantle continues to stumble.
In terms of a level playing field the WAFL is rapidly beginning to mirror the men's downhill at Sochi!
Dale Miller's story in The Weekend West of a mass exodus of East Perth and Peel players to competitions other than the WAFL again highlights the commission's penchant for policy on the run.
How is it possible for East Perth and Peel to be gifted a completely free list of AFL players delivered to their door then set about charging clearance fees of up to $15,000 for their non-AFL players hoping to play senior WAFL footy elsewhere?
Since blindsiding the WAFL clubs last November the only thing to shine through is the commission's lack of preparedness.
Clearly more consultation with all parties was needed.
It's "let's just wait and see. No one can predict the future" mantra barely cuts it!
The fact is most successful businesses do try to predict the future.
Anything else is a recipe for the current crisis de jour!
For as well-meaning as the WAFC might be somehow it has now managed (for the second time in four months) to dilute the quality of opposition West Coast and Fremantle listed players can face in the WAFL.

My thought.....
Its not over until the fat lady sings and while East Perth might be given all the toys in the box to play with - on the day 'heart' will succeed and East Perth no longer has a heart ... it belongs to the Eagles.

BH, spot on mate and D.Commetti is a legend ! The Charlseworth statement is as obviously true as the nose on our faces. Diversity and change in environment are the ingredients for a healthy mind !

Hope Johnson enjoys being the fourth ruckman selected after the three WCE players who don't get an AFL game each week

Beasley, I don't know if that Tosser Johnson realised but while he was putting forward his well worded thoughts, he was actually arguing the case for the other side. He admiited that EP would have a considerable advantage over the other clubs through their training and assistant coaches. This is our argument and most of the great Perth media have not agreed with that (in public anyway).

There is a saying that better to have people think you are an idiot rather open one's mouth and remove all doubt. You are correct Cesspit that what Johnson said was diametrically opposite to what he thought he was saying. I suspect that there will be a little bit more interest in the Swans versus the club formerly known as East Perth in round 2 of the WAFL competition. Perhaps I should refer to that team as the Eagles' reserves' team which is in essence what the Eagles' coach did when he referred to the Eagles playing an INTRACLUB match last week end.

Great pick up Swan42 .......
How much has the light been shone on the truth of this alignment when the 'COACH of the eagles' states how they themselves view the EP playing group/club.

Every INTRACLUB game I am aware of that's played is played between the League and the Reserves team of the club.
This smell of deception, lies, manipulation doesn't go away - it just keeps on getting more rancid and offensive
