This situation is disgraceful and the greed of the two AFL clubs having their host clubs demand transfer fees is unbelievable.
There should have been substantial concessions put in place to ensure that these players would not be lost to the WAFL ie points and salary cap concessions and transfer fees capped at a realistic level.
Not thought thru very well...

Well smokey you along with everyone else didn;t support my idea of having freo take over Peel completely and having WC form one new team in Joondalup. Neither the Mandurah Dockers or the Joondalup Eagles would have had reserve or colts grades.

The traditional eight would have played in the WAFL and the BHP Cup (or some such name) against the two afl reserve teams.

This seeing the traditional eight and the WAFL being left alone and necessitating only one new team.

Peels district would have been re spread to SF and EF while those two clubs would have off loaded a club or two to other traditional eight teams.

It was a fait accompli that something like has happened would happen but no one would look a a better result. Too busy ridiculing fellow posters. Now look what we have got.

What did you do to get your idea up and running TFAF? Who did you approach?

Sent a letter to all WAFL CEO's. The only one that talked to me after the event was the Claremont and Perth Ceo's though. Both felt the current line up was a done deal though. This was well before it was officially announced though.
Victorians still laugh at West Aussies because of the way we bailed out the vfl and then allowed it to be called it the AFL!

Fair enough. Most WAFL clubs I find are very secretive and it's hard to get any information out of them when it comes to players coming or going or other information.

Peel or EP being named After their aligned clubs is a moot point, they have being taken over you clown is it that hard.

Pete you appear to be acting like a dog with a bone. Just concentrating on the bone. You make no reference to the main part of my idea - that being protecting the traditional eight (that being East Perth in this instance).

Back on the point that you seem to be concentrating on though. It would be better for WAFL coverage if Mandurah played in Fremantles jumper and the newly formed team that WC create in the northern corridor to wear the WC jumper.

Both these two teams are not to have reserve and colt sides and both not to compete in the WAFL but in the Chevron, BP BankWest or whatever cup.

This would work by seeing all 10 teams playing the other 9 teams twice for 18 rounds.

From these 18 rounds the two competitions would be formed.

The BHP cup winner would be who ever finished on top at the end of the 18 games.

The WAFL would have a final series between the top 4 finishes from the traditional 8.

Remember a traditional 8 club would play the other 7 traditional clubs twice in the above mentioned 18 rounds - this leaving a fourteen round comp for the traditional 8 in the WAFL.

Pete - It could change and it should change. The traditional Eight must be left alone. Yes I have been pushing for the protection of the traditional Eight and no I don't give up very easily - something you appear to do going by your comment of "its never going to change."

You seem to deride the comp and say how you hate what's happened - BUT don't give any ideas as to what should happen. What's worse is that you ridicule other ideas without taking the time to understand them...

Simple question for you.

Would the introduction of one new team (run and controlled by WC) and Freo taking over Peel completely - thereby leaving the traditional Eight alone - be better for than what is on the table atm?

I like the idea that there is no bye. Hate the bloody bye :P :P Also with an even amount of teams in the comp it could see fixtures go back to home, away, home, away etc....

With the alignment though each G7 clubs are getting paid an annual sum of money aren't they. Tell me if I am wrong but I believe it could be around $100K.

When we are in a comp that 6/7 of the clubs operate at a financial loss each year and I am including Claremont in this with all the success they have had then an extra $100K in the clubs coffers does help.

I think it is $150K. None of that would change with the extra eagle team.In fact the amount should be increased to $300K.

Further with only 18 rounds being played each club would be able to host one interstate team game and be hosted by one interstate team. This increasing to hosting two interstate team games and being hosted by two interstate teams.
