The rookie list,

my opinion is that by doing this the weagles have ,
a) saved them some money
b) looked like they are continuing to support him
c) made it easier to cut him loose mid season and not have to go through a trade process
d) freed up a place on the main squad for a 'proper draft pick, and
e) made sure that a message is sent but to whom and how effective no one will ever know!

I am not suggesting it right wrong or anything else but it seems to me that unlike some clubs they made the decision to do this rather than cut him at the last minute.

He would have been pretty handy running around the forward line in the blue/gold/black jumper though grump. Still, maybe the WCE will pick up someone better for you

I guess in today's footy world, you have to be seen to be doing the right thing. Even if you're not.

Hopefully he does something in the black and white next year?? Or maybe the club has let him go with the rest of the league list

Turtle, the Eagles have delisted Newman but have committed to redrafting him on to their rookie list, which means that anything that Murray does in the WAFL next year will be in a blue and black jumper

What does a bloke have to do to get kicked off the eagles list? Correct me if i'm wrong but he hasn't exactly set the world on fire at Swans, has an assault charge pending, and walked out of a wafl game at quarter time. Blokes like Ian Richardson and Ben Saunders and others who never get a look in must shake their heads in disbelief.

I actually give the Eagles a big tick for this, they are supporting a kid with obvious talent who is going through a tough time in his life right now. They are showing that they do care about their players welfare. I know AFL is not a charitable organisation but the Eagles may benefit from this act of generosity in the long term if Murray can get things back on track.
