Never down for too long SD.....anything could happen next weekend.....remember last year coming away with a high from Basso post 3 EF wins after the prelim.....7 days later it was a big low post 3 losses in the GF......enjoy the feeling why you can, may be something totally different come next Sat at 5pm!

Yes I am enjoying the feeling mate as it could very well be mothballs next week!
Beneath the Southern cross i stand, on Bassendean Oval, can in hand, Swan Districts, you Farkin Beauty!

The only way Swans would merge with Perth is as per following:

(i) We remain as the Swan Districts Football Club;
(ii) We remain at Bassendean;
(iii) We continue to wear black and white.

As you can see it would not be a merge.

Also, on what basis Royal 2019 do you make the comment that a 'Perth and Swans merging is high on the commissions (sic) agenda'?

I think it would be more appealing if:
(i) the Perth Swans
(ii) you alternate your games at each venue
(iii) you wear red black and white
You see swannie? It could be a merge. You just gotta look outside the square mate.

NO 58s it would not be a merge it would be the end of a club I started supporting in the 1960s. To put an hypothetical to you: what would be your reaction if it was Souths and East Freo that 'merged'?

can't see why any of the SD boys would complain about a PFC/SDFC merger.....might take some of the heat out of SD by the umps, if they wear red and black from time to time.......as you say 58, those SD boys need to stop being so black/white with their thinking!!![/quote]

Freezin you can answer my hypothetical question as well re East Freo and Souths 'merging'.

I started supporting EFFC in the 50's swan, so I am also extremely attached to my club. The EFFC/SFFC merger has been mentioned and I wouldn't like it one little bit. However, if they said to me merge or die, then I would have no qualms in backing the merger - ALMOST anything to keep my club alive. I would never have been able to accept it if the dorks had chosen us as their host club though!! Anyway, it seem quite logical for a Perth/Swans merger ;)

42, we all know changes will happen, if their was choice of seeing something of EF playing or them totally disbanding and not playing at all.....choosing the former would be a no brainer.......sadly a few of you SDFC players and fans think the SDFC is the be all and end all of the WAFL.....no matter what Mr Raponi thinks!

I certainly don't think that Swan Districts is the be all and end all of the competition. Equally I don't think that a supposed merger of Swan Districts and Perth would mean that Swan Districts exists anymore. As such I certainly would not support this supposed merged club. Further I don;t believe it would be approved my the Swan Districts membership. Finally I don't believe that a merger of Swans and Perth is on the table.

1) the most likely is the merger and alignment of the PFC EP and the Eagles The 'wild card' will be the PFC membership; they have already resisted the ridiculous proposal to shift to Kelmscott and become Southern Districts in 1990s, so time will tell.

2)if the PFC rejects a merger but agrees to align with the Eagles, the old EP will be abolished.

We can thank the Barnett Government for this situation, notably its decision to build the ground away from Subiaco. Because of this decision the Commission no longer have a ground and less income and the WCE have become fixatted with Laithlan Park.
