Well I suppose the obvious explanation is that most Eagles' supporters would have heard of Embley and recognised him as a player in the Eagles' squad; whereas the vast majority of Eagles' supporters would not know that Bennell is aligned to the Eagles.

East Perth are looking somewhat ominous now. Another big win and six Eagles have now qualified to play finals - Matt Rosa, Adam Selwood, Blayne Wilson, Cale Morton, Scott Lycett and Jamie Cripps.
I don't begrudge them Adam Selwood (always an EP-aligned player), but I think the addition of Rosa, Wilson and Lycett from Peel has strengthened them (despite the loss of Dockers players to Peel). And I think Morton and Cripps, who should be playing elsewhere, have certainly tipped the scales...
Does anyone know whether Wellingham can still qualify? He has played one league game for EP this season, but also two reserves games at EP. Do they count? I suspect he will stay with West Coast for the remaining games, but I suppose you never know...

Thanks WAFLOVER for that list.. It is a worry.. If Swans or EF make the 4 it could be their last game and EP are a good chance to go on from their with the ins they will have :( I for one will not rejoice if they win he GF in our last season as a stand alone WAFL comp
ps will most probably pinch he top of your post eventually as well researched :)
Suppose we will have to get used to it in 2014!!!!!

The WAFL clubs should have been smart enough to allow the AFL clubs stand alone teams in the competition. Instead the usual pathetic in fighting has left us with the current debacle. My beloved Royals have been taken over but unfortunately the end will be worse for one or more other clubs.

Fundamentally Royal 2019 if Peel and East Perth had stayed with the other clubs it would not have happened. The WAFC had no power to add new clubs to the WAFL competition without the approval of the current WAFL clubs. Whether they liked it or not the WA domiciled AFL clubs would have had to wear the status quo. Your club and Peel chose the different path and sold your souls to the devil incarnate. You no longer have autonomy over your club.

It was interesting to listen to a call on the ABC sports programme on Saturday morning from a father who said that he might take his son to some WAFL games next year. His rationale for doing so was that he was under the impression that the jumpers that Peel and East Perth would be wearing would be the Dockers' and Eagles' jumpers respectively.

lot of garbage.the clubs should have let them have their own teams except for allowing peel to become the dockers.the problem with the g7 is they think the players who get drafted still belong to them.once they are drafted they are not yours.should have let them have their teams and held out for more money.would have rather seen a competition with the tradititional 8 having no afl listed players and not being told how they have to manage afl listed players.

I am not sure which century you think we are living in. I am pretty sure that slavery is not allowed in this day and age. Could you please explain the following queries:

(i) as has been quoted elsewhere apparently Worsfold and Nesbitt made a commitment that only 10 AFL listed players would play in the league team per match. Where do the other 12-14 players come from?

(ii) further to point one above what impact the exodus of 12-14 players would have on other competitions?

(iii) do you seriously think that the likes of Nick Naitanui, Michael Walters, Clancee Pearce etc would appreciate playing against Swans in a WAFL match?

(iv) what impact would there to be to the reserves' and colts' compettion if the Eagles had a 'league WAFL team'? Obviously they would not have a reserves' or colts' team.

(v) whilst there have been some problems catering for the AFL players returning to their WAFL club, the severity and number of those problems is far less than the alternative.
