Was this in the fixtures or have the Eagles pulled some strings to request a bye this week? Seems awfully strange for just 2 clubs to have a bye.

I think you'll find Claremont's bye written into the fixturing already. My understanding was everyone knew. Then 3 teams bye next week, with the remaining sides have a bye in week 12. The fixtures then resume as normal for a little bit.
Then 2 teams have a bye in week 15. Some teams have a bye in wk 16 and I think 2 teams have a bye in week 17. And rounds 18, 19 & 20 are normal fixtures.
Each team will have 2 Byes.

Typical conspiracy theory.The Wafl bye coincides with the Afl bye for the Eagles which makes sense.All Wafl clubs have byes scheduled till the ned of the year.
