Well WA did better than most expected, pretty ugly low scoring game, few highlights to speak of. SA had the better mids and more options up forward, if they had converted better it would have been real ugly. most stats were pretty close, WA won the hitouts 34 to 30, SA dominated the frees 22 to 14, got quite a few from ducking and dropping the knees and the umps fell for it.
WA only had 1 forward in Sokol, Marsh was a complete waste of space, Buller did ok but needed to spend more time up forward than in the ruck. SA had 2 good tall forwards who caused us a lot of trouble. Didn't hear who won the Simpson but on what I saw, it should have been between, Giro, Murdoch or Miles.

Schumacher got the Simpson SS. From what I saw of the game ( about a quarter and a half) the standard wasn't great. Both sides were turning over the ball a lot. I still think Keitel would have been handy up forward to provide an alternate pathway to Sokol who was very good. As you said Marsh was pretty useless, maybe he needed to clock a croweater to get him going!

Schumacher was very good but I think I would have gone for Murdoch given his high tackle count, plenty of possessions and a goal, but anyway congrats to Shumacher.
Imagine the team with some of the "surprising" omissions with Keitel at FF so Sok got the second best defender, or Buller at FF and Clarke helping Eastland in the ruck. Bolton off half back where he is so damaging, Nelson in the mids, it may have been a different story. Bolton will never wear another state gurnsey while the "super coach is in charge, what a numpty. Plus we will never win another state game v SA if we dont pick the best available form players whatever their ages are. This idea that state games are only for the AFL scouts is insulting to the players and the punters, there are plenty of opportunities for the scouts to get off their arses and see what talent is out there.

SS... do Subi, EP, Cl or any team these days play 2 designated ruckman? So why in  a state game would you do it. Didn't England beat Clarke in their head to head?

Can't have Bolton and Eardley playing the same role of HB...think Eardley has been more consistent out of the 2 th9s season.

I agree Keitel should of played....Marsh hasn't kicked many this year, so really shouldn't of played. Should of been Keitel, Sokol and  Buller up front....with  Dobson and the resting mids as support.

Brayshaw had a quiet one, but been in good form this year for EP....not sure who Nelson would of replaced in that midfield....all had been in good form for their respective clubs going into this game....though 4 EP midfield boys may of been one to many....Byrne, Thompson or Nelson  perhaps.

Waste of time it should be scrapped. I haven't even found the motivation to watch a replay. How many went? Our lone representative was probably selected to play in defence but has played the last few games in the forward line. Michael Sinclair thoroughly deserved a game but where is the logic in that? It's the coaching job no one wants except a discarded unwanted coach.

Couldn’t agree more. My experience watching these i see 21 cnts i usually wish death upon as they play Perth with the one token Demon running around (generally in defence as that’s the main position you get leather poisoning in Perth) and i end up barracking for the other state!

they are on top of the ladder & no-one else can make the state team
their local players are not good enough & they sit on top of the ladder for only one reason
