Perhaps Covid is playing a part esp given the older demographic that makes up WAFL folks.

It is a bit hard to tally up the WAFL attendance numbers for 2022 when the numbers for nearly half of the games this year are not even appearing on the WAFL website.
I cant remember that ever being an issue in previous years save for some country games so why has it become so irregular this season?
Although close to if not the lowest total in living memory was recorded for the Subi vs WCER game a few weeks back- 275.
Having said that Subi's dominance this century has in my opinion turned many WAFL supporters from all clubs persuasions away and they will be hard to get back as the live streaming and other life priorities take preference.
Yes they seem to not include figures where the media tags are,?

Anyway had a quick look and it appears round 1 started ok with a few games over 2K then it feel away , foundation day was ok 6k at freo and just under 4k at the perth derby, apart from that the average looks like around the 1200 mark, the WACA freo derby pulled 1500, and a Perth derby at EF pulled 1000!

It looks like the crowds where great on the weekend.
Now that the full attendance have been added to the WAFL site it looks like they are not too bad for this season and I would say are up on the last few years. The total crowds that get posted in the West Australian are all over the place and sometimes far lower than the official totals.

Crowds look small to me. Less than 2K is nought to rave about. Just a few die hards left and it gets less and less every year.

Something has to change TI Em.If the crowds don't decline they only break even from the year before. The trend is down and poses a real problem for the Wafc,in the next decade.

Declining crowds over time may well be a boon.  When the goons that are the WAFC look like losing their soft cushioned job and have to go out and get a job where results do count, then they may wake up.

Playing your annual showcase game at a suburban ground, does nothing to halt the leagues declining status,in fact it probably it accelerates its demise on the states sporting calendar.Surely the toothless WAFC can remind the stadium operators that they are providing them their 2 major cash cows, and that they can respectfully set aside 1 day for the 130 year old ''sacred cow''with no ifs buts or maybes.

Wafl crowds for the qualifying rounds this season are well down on last season. And the qualifying round attendances were very poor last year!
The Wafl crowd figures have fallen off a cliff. And I suppose there will be a myriad of silly excuses such as 'the weather' or not enough parking trotted out by officialdom!
I wonder why the weather was not a problem back in the 1960's or 1970's when people used to attend???
As someone whom has jumped off a cliff will tell you all, there is only one way to go - and it's not up! Hard to get an accurate number of people watching because figures quoted in the press and the official number vary widely. After all, whose to say the official number is correct? In some cases the official figure is simply wrong.
Having said that, the Wafl been in serious decline for the past 9 or 10 years.
This season has only seen 3 rounds where the attendance was higher than last season, so people tell me. All the other rounds has seen lower crowds than the corresponding time.
All sad to say!
