Well East Perth players have spoken and they won’t be hosting any Eagles interstate players. That leaves 3 options for the Eagles and the WAFL.

1. Carry on having their own team with some concessions.
2. Go back to the old model. WAFL recruits play at their club of origin and interstate players get distributed among the bottom 4 clubs.
3. reopen discussions with bottom placed Perth with the worst zones in the league

The only positive I see from my clubs point of view if WC reserves resume is all new draftees will play for their reserves instead of strengthening the clubs with WCE listed players. We have none on their list.

According to today's West, DD, the Weagles don't want their interstaters split between WAFL clubs.
And as per the Royals' decision, the Demons seem adamant they won't host the WCE interstaters.
So, Option 1 is odds-on - it will be interesting to see how many concessions Nisbett and Co. wangle via their WAFC mates.

There is an option that is a bit left field, put together a team in the Ammo's, hey get a lot of players from there to bulk up their list for WCER so play them there! The will be competitive against most, perhaps not Kingsley, North Beach, Scarborough and maybe another but it would be a fair compromise for all.

I am sure the ammo teams would not be to adverse to it as the crowds for home games would be good so more money acros their bars, just a thought!

Might be right about the crowds at ammo's but they did zero for WAFL crowds. It's almost inevitable that some concessions will be made and they will revert to fielding a ressies team when they meet with the WAFC and the WAFL clubs. Peel must be excluded from any decisions as they are not a real WAFL club until they part from Freo. Any concessions should be matched by an increase licence fee to play in the WAFL.

The Ammo clubs wont be as sympathetic as the WAFL clubs have been to West Coast wishes.

The Ammo clubs don't need WCE money and the competition works as a promotion/relegation system with new clubs entering in the lower grades - given that WCE reserves would be a single team they'd get thrown into one of the E Grade competitions and would never play A Grade

This is all just a song and dance by WCE so they can achieve one of two outcomes
1. Maintain their standalone Reserves side in the WAFL and get as many concessions as possible to increase their competitiveness
2. Get a traditional club to break ranks and accept a full or partial alignment and WCE $$.

The WAFL clubs need to stand together for once and force WCE hand so that all WA players are sent back to their club of origin and the east coast recruits are spread across the bottom 4 teams. This will require the WAFL clubs to take a pay cut from the terms that they happily accepted for WCE having a Ressies team.

Lets see if money or competition integrity prevails. Previous experience tells us it will be the money!

Sounding close to the mark TT. Three (possibly 4) of the Wafl clubs do want a 9 team competition. Sadly the Wafl clubs not all on the same page, sadly. The integrity of the competition was taken away years ago and I'm super angry it looks like staying that way!

I'm on a few WCE groups and the amount of people who have no idea about the WAFL is astounding. They are up in arms that WCE are not aligned anymore and think its a joke. I put my 2 cents in given I'm a WAFL and AFL fan and they just don't get it. I want the players back at SDFC where they got drafted from (or their draft club) but these people are oblivious. Many don't support a WAFL club unless its tied to the eagles. A lot of history getting lost. My kids love going to SDFC games and playing behind the hill like I did many moons ago.

Unbelievable! 😟 The wafl clubs had their chance to all get together and be on the same page on this subject, and blew it big time!!
Apparently the eight clubs voted to retain big business & the 10 team comp. This is after everyone being told otherwise just a few short weeks earlier!
So big business and money won. Competition integrity is zero and lost.
