Whats the go with the state u/19's playing the AFL GF curtain raiser?
What happens to the 2 WAFL colts prelim teams who play that weekend, do they just lose some of their best players for this exhibition/recruiting match??

Another kick in the guts for the WAFL competition. Why not just play the WAFL colts preliminary final as a curtain raiser? Probably wouldn't suit the AFL drafters who want to see all the best prospects play in the one game

The   teams it's going  to really  disadvantage here are EF and EP who  will lose min 5 players each...with EF potentially losing up to 7 players.....for all of SD colts dominance this year, they strangely have fark all state reps here, 2-3 at most and Cl has enough depth from their private zones to cover any losses they may encounter from that state game.....poor timing TBH.

Apparently those players whose clubs are playing in the prelim, won't be considered for that State game v SA.....if EF make the prelim v say Cl....up to ten players from that earlier win over SA will need replacing.....what if more SD players are picked and they get injured in the game....thus missing the GF the next week.....geez that will be interesting...

Thanks Freeze, but that is not as I understand what Adam Jones has said publicly this morning. No decision seems to have been made and it could be a case by case decision by the State Talent managers and coaching staff after considering the views of the players and mostly recruiters. Apparently there is another WA v SA game in early October (both 17s and 19s) and some recruiters might prefer to see some prospects play under finals pressure than in a  State game in 2 weeks time. Either way the WAFL Colts teams will be affected but the WAFC priority is to give every player the best chance of getting drafted. omny.fm/shows/sports-breakfast/adam-jones-15-9-2021

Cant see that one game will make or break a players chances of being drafted, recruiters look at consistent performance and personality traits, mental attitude and the like, so let them play some games post season when they can concentrate purely on those games and not affect their chances of winning a flag, which is every players dream no matter what level they play.

Sorry SS I don’t understand a word of this, let them play some games POST season? Where they can concentrate “purely on those games and not affect their chances of winning a flag?” What? And surely watching blokes in a prelim under intense finals pressure is the best viewing a recruiter can possibly get.
So I think the conclusion on this is the WA players will be playing in the Colts prelim instead of the state game, which means it will be a well below strength WA team and I’m not sure of how the SA team is going about it. Can’t have state fixtures this late in the year, ridiculous.
