definitely 1979 and 1980 from around that era - and there were some expert opinions from legends of the game at the time mate

I would have thought Perth would have been warm favourites in 1978 Grump given the margin in the second semi and your club had to do it the hard way including winning I think 6 of the last 7 to fall in to remarkably go from 5th to 2nd wasn't it in the last round?

We did lose Murray Couper to suspension in the 2nd semi and John Quartermain was out injured so we lost our book ends and Wiley wasn't fit. Needless to say we have never recovered from that day.

Could be heading for just that situation this year, Subi have come right back to the pack and with SF, Cl & WP all looking pretty even, Subi play all three in the next 3 weeks so that will tell a far bit about where each team, particularly Subi, sit in the scheme of things. So prospectively a great final series awaits us and the promise of an even GF should see a good crowd at Perth Stadium.

How good would it be if the WAFC actually promoted the situation as we get closer to finals. We live in hope.

DD that 78 Gf was epic, one because it was so wet and secondly because a bloke named Busustow played the best game of wet weather footy I have ever seen, he almost single handedly won the game off his own boot, 8 goals I think he got, but Perth's team that day with those out's was not as even as the Royals and they just fell over the line.

Yep, the Buzz got 7 and he proved when he went to Carlton it was no fluke. Two former Perth Sandover medalists and premiership players in Barry Cable and Ian Miller playing for the Royals. What a gift.

1984. East Fremantle won the 2nd Semi final but Swans got another crack at them with a come from behind win over Claremont.

I managed to convince most of my class at school that East Freo would win and a pregame vote on the outcome got up in favour of the blue and whites. Swans only kicked 10 goals to zip in the first quarter!

Amazingly Ti Em the Sharks managed to cut the margin back to 1 point in the 3rd quarter but the effort of playing catch up footy in a grand final was too much for them in the end.
That was a fantastic game of footy and you didnt have to wait much longer for redemption!
