42, considering Three Springs fits under the umbrella of Country Football, you and Bazza have identified the same area, so realistically only one area has been identified not two as you said....also a mate of mine who coaches down south says not all areas of Country Football are struggling......so I guess Tugboats "Flying" quote still remains relevant I guess?

Flying in metro junior footy Freeze?
They now have to combine most of the WAFL club zones to get a Year 11-12 footy comp going of about 8-10 teams...hardly flying...especially when you consider 30 years ago when I was in that age group where we had every WAFL club (8 clubs) had about 12 teams each in their old Under 17s comps!
And the population of Greater Perth has also doubled within that time frame as well, so numbers should not be an issue at all but seemingly they are for the supposedly "flying" community junior footy ranks!

BH, due to the WAFC only promoting the AFL, kids in the older junior grades feel like it's AFL or bust so if they see they aren't gun players with no chance to make AFL, they give it away, rather than pushing on into the 16's & colts and having a WAFL career or PFL as the WAFC have given them no encouragement to do so. The WAFC consider the WAFL as complete also rans that don't deserve promotion funding or respect so plenty of kids end up feeling the same.

The top age level at Junior Footy has always been a problem for retention, many factors outside of football such as education, jobs etc influence.

Revenue streaming of the 15,16, & 17 year olds by WAFL clubs is also an issue on that age group.

The WAFL gets plenty of funding, its its own worst enemy. Last years famous inquiry told the WAFL clubs to get more community minded and get involved at proper grass roots level football.

From what I am hearing and seeing many junior & amateur clubs have record levels of participation in 2021 which is surpassing 2019 levels. WCE membership at record levels. All this was laid out in the WAFC strategic plan for 2021, which so far seems to be hitting all of the stipulated KPIs.

Only if you completely ignore the meaning of words and ignore Bazza's comments vis a vis juniors.

Does anyone really believe that there are more junior teams in the higher age groups now than 20 years ago?

No. Drop off seems to coincide with the involvement of WAFL clubs at that 15-18 year old level.

Maybe the WAFL needs to lift its game with the way the perceive development.

Didn’t the wafc hand control of this development back to the wafl clubs ?
So are you saying the wafl clubs do such a bad job that the governing body the wafc decided to give them back ownership of this development?
You are contradicting yourself as to where the issue lies

C'mon mark do not lower your self to the levels of Swan42,  how many players does your club revenue stream in  your futures system?

40? 50? Maybe 60 to start , buy bags , fees , club kit$ 400 bucks a pop?
