I wouldn't be too excited about the miniscule head counts at Wafl matches. Apparently one of the games just last weekend only had a crowd of just over 500.  And that not being the first time.           If that has not rang alarm bells very loudly - not sure what will?!  If crowd figures were say 5,000 to 10,000 per match, there wouldn't be a problem and the competition would be far healthier than current. I would imagine the total for this season not all that crash hot either?

One would have thought with no WCE or Freo games at home last weekend and some perfect weather there would have been some decent crowds at the WAFL.
Unfortunately all 3 games were poorly attended-

EP vs EF- 1132
PT vs WCER- 532
WP vs SF- 1410

The 2 games of the afl reserves teams (PT vs WCER) in the WAFL this season had a combined total attendance of 912!
Yeah piss weak no doubt about it, although 1400 at a WP v SF is pretty much par for the course, regardless of ladder possie attendances at that fixture have declined for a long time, normally when WP play at Fremantle its one of smaller turn outs and likewise SF people just don't want to travel all the way to Joondalup. It was also live on TV.

As for Freo v Eagles reserves - forget it, both have flopped in the AFL season anyway. even dockers games at Optus struggled to get a decent crowd.

It certainly makes a joke of the additional 5000 spectators per game that Nisbett and Rosich from memory went on record as a potential benefit of the reserves teams. Interestingly, Matt Priddis on the weekend was saying how much he enjoyed playing at his WAFL club with the AFL drafted guys before the alignments and reserves teams were introduced. He was talking about playing in the 2004 Subi premiership with Dave Mundy, Ryan Crowley and Josh Wooden and the great experience of mixing with other players at WAFL club level. Makes you wonder doesn't it?

How many of us can remember the predictions of what the impact on WAFL crowds there would be with the introduction of the Eagles?

Flogging a dead horse, 99% of the public couldn't give 2 stuffs about the WAFL and for most kids playing footy it is only a second or third option if they don't reach their dream of playing AFL.I coach trying to instill the meaning of playing in an East Perth,Swans or any other jumper in the old fire and brimstone manner, will backfire,as alot of players are mentally soft nowadays and will try to undermine the coach, which has happened at more than one club, and you can be as parochial as you like, but the players today will never match your passion.                                                                                                                                                              So i will sit back and see what unfolds at my club,as it has become abundantly clear to me to see why my club was reticent to address obvious list deficiencies in the recruiting market before the start of this season,so there is a fair chance myself and my 16 year old son who attend Royal matches regularly, will become part of the 99%

Wait until EF start playing derbies at the WACA ground, thats sure to be a winner crowd wise, the one and only decent WAFL crowd of the year and they move it north of the river. LMAO.

Will crowd figures even be available for games at the WACA?  Isn't part of the WACA redevelopment the removal of the fencing?

I was down Bremer Bay on the weekend and went to the pub to watch the game, I asked the manager to put on the footy on the TV Ch 7 , he was stuffing around with his phone, and I said what are you doing mate, he said checking the AFL website for the game, I said nah its WAFL and its live on 7, he said Oh OK really, I've never heard of WAFL.  Thats where we are at.

God knows it will be a construction site anyway. They will expand the oval to allow games but while game sare on , the Prediville and Inveriaty Stand are getting demolished, be a right mess.

One might draw the conclusion that the WAFC isn't really interested in the WAFL league and reserved;  their interest lies only in the colts and women's competitions.
