I am interested in what other WAFL supporters think of having WAFL night games.  Last Saturday, there 1,650 at Lathlain Park Oval.  As I said to a former participant of this forum on Saturday I don't believe that there is any benefit in playing WAFL night games.  Perth had won their first game and Swans had shown a new found ability to kick goals against Claremont in our game.  The 1,650 was significantly lower than in 2020 and 2019.

I guess it's worth a try for something different 42 but the twilight game on Good Friday against EP was pretty ordinary from a spectators point of view given the terrible lighting at Leedy. It's got me stuffed how players can judge the flight of the ball to take marks etc as not only was it pretty dark, but the lights were moving around making it even more difficult. For mine, playing the game on a Saturday arvo then gives you time to get home and go out afterwards or stick around at the club post game ...so yes, not a big fan of night games.

I do like a Friday night fixture at Fremantle Oval - bit of atmosphere when a game starts at say 4pm-ish with the markets still open for a bit
Chance to wander down the strip afterwards too
Saturday nights are up against the Victorian shit on the official channel idiot box mate

Thanks BC.  In terms of weather conditions Saturday's conditions really couldn't have been much better.  What sort of crowd would it have been if it had been cold and wet?

Yes Southy...I do quite enjoy a Friday night fixture at the port although last time I went a few years ago, I got crook from a curry from the food hall next to the Freo markets and we lost just to make it worse so wasn't all plain sailing...but yes, good atmosphere.

Thanks for your response Southerner.    I would raise a couple of queries about scheduling Friday games.   The first is about the players who have to work on Fridays and particularly the players who have physical jobs like tradies.  Similarly, spectators who work on Fridays getting to Freo Oval for a 4pm-ish start.

geez that's no good mate but toward the end of the day there unless they prepare it for you fresh it's not a great idea to get the old food
The food smells coming across the Oval are something else for sure & adds to it all I reckon

a 5pm or later can work too mate - there's something there for crowd attraction with facilities extremely close by including excellent public transport options
