LH young Sheed's game was one of the most impressive performances I have seen from a young midfielder in a very long time. About 30 disposals, a truck load of clearances & then topped off by 4 quality goals, this young bloke has a very bright future ahead. He reminds me of a young Simon Black. He was unfortunately injured going in for yet another contested possession late in the game.

Yeah he's a ripper mate. I think based on his carnival form, even if he doesn't play another game this season, he should go between 5 and 10 in the draft.

I can absolutely assure all that Subiaco are putting as much effort into identifying players in their zone as any WAFL club could. We're not quite up with the SF, CL, EF's of this world yet and there's a box or two more I would like to see ticked but we're getting there.

LH.....to me all this is cyclic, 4 - 5 years ago SD had some rippers(Nats, Notte, Pearce, Yarren, etc)...WP had the likes of Darling, Black and Nelson.....Peel had some beauties.....yeah EF, Cl and SF seem to be well represented most years, but I see Subi seems to be well represented in the u/16s, Schoolboys etc thus who is to say next years side won't be dominated by the likes of Grace, Clark, Wilkinson etc.

EF have surprised me though with so many players selected this year....Cripps(P) has grown a whopping 20cm over the last two years to come to the party, Marsh(J) and Jansen have always been earmarked as AFL draft players....Alirr came from Qld this year, whilst the likes of Cuneo has been hidden away at Aquinas, whilst others selected(Solomon, Regan and Cripps) were behind the likes of Marsh (H), Simpson, Howson and Paparone from last year plus current reserves guys in Dorotich, Jupp, Byron-Pendergast, Fannon etc.

EF have struggled at the u/16 level for the past 3 - 4 years, thus sometimes expecting kids who are dominating at that level to do the same at colts, when they are older, can be unrealistic TBH.....a lot can happen to a kid between those mid - later adolescent years, in terms of height, weight, injuries and motivation. Christ Ryan Lester-Smith has come out of no where this year to kick a few goals for EF league, the kid wasn't a go to player in EF colts flag in 2010, didn't get picked for state juniors etc.....can never predict who's gonna do what, unless they are a O'Meara, Swallow, Rich, Coniglio, Hogan and Martin these kids are exceptions and tracked from birth probably!!

Yeah fair call Freeze about the 18's squad. Most of our very good players this year are 1996 lads. Chris Bryan and Rhys McAlister were unlucky though I reckon as 1995 boys. I mean McAlister has 42 goals already this year in colts and Bryan, I'm not sure if you are familiar with him, but he is one of the most fluent, balanced players we've had for a while. I haven't seen many blokes who can side-step through traffic like him except maybe for a few Indigenous fellas.

But yeah no real issue with the state squad they picked. As the results show so far we have a 0-2 record against Claremont, a 0-1 record against you guys and a 1-1 record against South, so we're not quite there yet. I've got high hopes for 2 or 3 lads they haven't blooded yet. Maybe that might make a difference. I hope they get a chance to show everyone what they can do.

THE NEXT generation of AFL stars will be on show at Etihad Stadium on Wednesday and AFL Live subscribers will have the opportunity to watch them in action.

AFL Live subscribers have the chance to watch the fifth round of the NAB AFL Under-18 Championships. with games scheduled between South Australia and Western Australia, and Vic Country and Vic Metro.

There is a division one title on the line, and if South Australia defeats Western Australia it will win its first under-18 championships.

If Western Australia can win, Vic Metro has the opportunity to claim its third consecutive title if it beats rivals Vic Country.

Overseas subscribers to the AFL Live TV service can also watch both games.

A whole host of AFL draftees will be out to impress clubs and recruiters in the final round of the carnival.

South Australian pair, midfielder James Aish and defender Matthew Scharenberg have shown throughout the carnival that they deserve their top 10 draft rankings.

Vic Metro captain Luke McDonald has already committed to North Melbourne as a father-son recruit and has been impressive throughout the tournament, as has midfielder Josh Kelly.

West Australian talented forward Jonathon Marsh has boosted his draft stocks, as has Cameron McCarthy, whose after-the-siren goal handed Western Australia a win over Vic Country last week at Geelong.

For Vic Country, Darcy Gardiner is considered one of the best key defenders in this year's draft pool, while Billy Hartung has made a solid return from finger surgery.

Action kicks off with South Australia and Western Australia from 3:35pm (AEST), followed by Vic Country and Vic Metro at 5.35pm.

Congratulations @SA_U18s, who are winners of the @AFL_Under18s for the 1st time. Claimed the division one title by beating WA by 10 points

Freeze having watched 2 of WA's games live in the flesh & 2 on Fox Footy I thought Cripps was a little disappointing over the whole carnival to be honest mate, granted he was good today ..For mine the standouts for WA were Dom Sheed, Clem Smith, your boy J.Marsh was very good but obviously got injured vs Vic Country, Cameron McCarthy, Charlie Cameron while most of the others showed ability but lacked the consistency over 4 quarters!

Congrats to Dom Sheed who despite missing WA's final game with a broken collarbone was awarded the Larke medal for best Player of the U18s Champs
