Western Australia plays the Northern Territory on Saturday, June 8 at Brownes Stadium in Round 2 of the 2013 NAB AFL National 18s Championship.

The game kicks of at 12pm with free entry for spectators.

WA will be aiming for their second win in as many weeks after a convincing win over Tasmania in Launceston on Sunday, June 2.

Lead by a best-on-ground performance from captain Dominic Sheed (Subiaco) in the midfield and three goals from Sam Bevan (Claremont), WA won the contest by 62-points with 61 inside 50s to Tasmania's 30.

Sheed collected 32 disposals and a game-high eight clearances. He was well supported by East Fremantle duo Jarrad Jansen (28 disposals) and Patrick Cripps (26).

Cameron McCarthy and Blaine Johnson, both from South Fremantle, were WA's other multiple goal-scorers with two each.

Watched this game at Lathlain Park & you could tell both Sheed & Cameron have played WAFL League footy as both chose the right options most of the time ..best of the rest were Marsh a real bull up forward, Smith down back read the play well & backed himself ..most of the others flashed in & out of the play but we would have to improve a lot to beat the likes of Vic Metro & Country!

Younger guns give WA food for thought

Top WA draft prospect Blake Acres is a chance to return through the WAFL colts this week as the State's under-18 side prepares to take on a powerhouse Vic Metro side at Patersons Stadium.

Acres is rated among the top 20 young footballers in the country, but has had little exposure to the championships this year after he injured a shoulder playing for West Perth last month.

The midfielder returned to training last week and is expected to be cleared to play colts in the next fortnight should he get through a full training load.

He hopes to play for WA before their final match of the NAB AFL under-18s championships against South Australia on July 3.

Meanwhile, WAFC director of coaching Tim Gepp says WA's 82-point win over the Northern Territory at Brownes Stadium on Saturday has given selectors some headaches for their first division-one game this week.

A number of bottom-aged players were brought into the side to cover injuries, but finished among the best in the 18.13 (121) to 5.9 (39) victory.

WA really need the two WP boys - Acres and Robertson - in action. Sadly, I heard Robertson may not play at all in the championships or indeed this season.

Hmm. Could Robertson be another to add to late West Coast picks? Past three years McInnes, Colledge missed lots of time sliding down to WC. Could Robertson be three years in a row?
