There used to be a WAFL Players Association back in the 1980s (and probably 70s as well).
George Michalczyk was the President back then and they were quite progressive, they used to put out an annual magazine (The High And The Mighty) amongst other things, from memory they instigated the 200 club for WA/WAFL players who had played 200 or more League games across the WAFL, VFL/AFL & or SANFL which is still going I believe which is great to see and great recognition to those players who have put in a lot of time, effort and punishment to the body to play so many games at a top level.
Not sure why the association ever disappeared?
