If we all agree this is a real season then the Sandover should be considered in the same light.

Who are the players we expect to be in the frame this year.

From Subi it's been a mishmash with so many that may have challenged having long term injuries, obviously Dela and Kitch both played a full or most of the season, Ben Newton, Max Walters has been very consistent in the games he played, apart from that not to many.

Gault would be a standout in a team where there wont be too many taking votes from him.
Souths will have a few, ducker Schloithe seems to be an umpires favourite, big Higgins has been very influential.

Anyway over to you guys to offer your thoughts.

I am not sure about a "real season" SS as 8 games is 8 too short in my books but anyway...

Jackson Ramsay (EP) for me will win it, Aaron Black from (WP) will be up there, Bolton (CL) is an umpire favourite as is Schloithe but he has played more forward this year and we know umpires love midfielders.
From SD Gault will be up there and Turner and Fisher will poll votes although it took until late in the season for the umpires to even recognise Fisher and the fact he was being held at virtually every stoppage by the opposition taggers!

From Subi too many long term injuries as you say but Benny Newton could be a smokey....played every game and featured in our best in most of them.

Congrats to Fish on winning the Sandover Medal in his debut season in the WAFL, it was well deserved.

On another note though what on earth was the go with the format on how the Sandover Medal was conducted last night?
We have only an 8 game season (9 rounds) and yet the first 3 rounds are not even counted live ffs and only rounds 4 to 6 before a lengthy break and then 7 to 9 are read out hastily over the duration of a 3-4 hour event.....
How on earth could you not do the whole count read live in such a short season?
Yes I can understand the need for the various other award winners being announced- Bernie Naylor Medal, Prendergast Medal, Jack Clarke Medal, Rodriguez Shield, WAFLW awards etc but some of the other stuff wasnt necessary!
I mean do we really need the long musical interludes, the dinner break could be done before 7pm surely, the sponsors spruiking, coaches and captains for the GF interviewed etc etc???

Some of these modern event people should have a look at some footage of how the Sandover Medal nights were conducted in the halcyon days of the late 70s & 80s and copy that format for goodness sake!

Because it’s not about the punters BH it’s all about Gavin and his cronies. For starters what strikes me first and foremost is if all these austerity measures are required by all WAFL clubs and the WAFL grand final isn’t good enough for Optus Stadium then why was this event still held at the Crown Ballroom which wouldn’t come cheap? It would be one of the most expensive venues for hire in Perth if not the most expensive?

Surely considering it is no longer a televised event it could have been held at a much smaller and less glamorous venue, like the punters who will be forced to plonk their ass on concrete terraces among other sub standard ammenities for those lucky enough to get one of the 7000 tickets left over after corporates and players and club staff got theirs first.

Double standards MUCH Gavin you fucken obscenely overpaid WANKER?
Get on your bike.

Congratulations to Fisher. Well done in any season, polling in every game albeit 2's and the one 3.

Also a congrats to Blacky and Ramma for their efforts for their respective teams.

Congrats to Sam Fisher on his win, a boost for the Swans faithful, hope he sticks around for you for many years.

Just an observation that 4 of the last 10 medal winners have been interstate imports, Fisher, Delahunty and Bolton (2).

In a low standard scrappy game at Leederville i thought Fisher really stood out and is a much deserved winner, and was as impressive as any other opposition player i've seen this season.

Ramsay played really well that day and being in a team that won easy I thought he might have got the 3 votes.
Fisher kept going for 4 quarters though and that and a game against South when we also lost were the 2 games that as a supporter I was impressed with as plenty of blokes go missing when you lose but he gives it his all.
outstanding seasons from Fish, Ramsay and Black from games I saw.
