If West Coast withdraw their team from the WAFL, this means that an abbreviated season would be 9 rounds with all teams playing each other once with one bye. If the competition was to start on the first weekend in July, this would then mean that the Grand Final could still be in September. I agree with others who have said that it is pointless having a competition unless you allow a crowd in. Obviously you would need to police social distancing, so no big mobs like the Swan bar but I think it is feasible at a WAFL game. The only issue is that you might get more people rocking up because the crowds would be locked out of AFL games and it is the only live footy option. Not a bad problem to have I guess.

Theres zero point having it with no crowd, by September if should be OK.

But I wouldn't bother having it at the Stadium.

I cannot see any reason why we cant have crowds at suburban grounds of 1 - 2 K, I mean these joints are enormous and empty normally in the season anyway.

They are clearly not paying back enough if they are stockpiling 60 Mill in Cash.

Spot on Bazza.
Having done a little research of late back to the 1980s when the WCE were being set up to join the vfl the whole point of it 'apparently' was to financially safeguard the WAFL clubs which seems to have been lost in translation over the last 30 odd years where WCE are now able to stockpile $50 mill or so, have millions allocated by the 3 levels of Gov to build their palace at Lathlain...whilst WAFL clubs are running chook raffles & gofundme pages to stay afloat and get a pittance back from WCE & Freo (who havent paid back any $$$ in some years) via their owner the WAFC who should be demanding more!

I agree, Bazza. All it would take is to ensure that supporters spread out around the ground, rather than congregate in the bar or grandstand or members. I for one would be happy to freeze my nuts off in the outer at Lathlain if it meant getting some footy.

I agree with you up to a point that both teams need to give back more to the wafl comp in profitable times.i suspect having a cash reserve like the eagles will get them thru a difficult year or two.as for the wafl it would be nice if all clubs got more but what would the money be used for.some clubs would have to pay back debts, some would have to use funds to fix up ageing infrastructure and some may even afford more off field staff and even more profits.most wafl clubs have not been able to put funds aside for a rainy day to cover things like maintenance or the covid 19 situation.you can ask your presidents to ask for more money from our afl clubs.relaince on them will be a two edged sword.if they have a couple of bad years and wafl clubs don't watch their spending then it will not make any difference.

Yep the Eagles making big money is a good thing and the dockers albeit it at a greatly reduced level, I just think it should have been divided up much more evenly as per the original charter, after going through the Indian Pacific fiasco and what little money the WAFL had left going down the drain with it, I dont see the point in the clubs hording money that isnt accessible to the WAFL.

But you are right . this whole thing hangs no these two being a off the ground money success and like Ive said , the WAFL exposure to it all falling over is pretty scarey,

Baz good points all round, a game with a limit on the crowd is the way to go, surely if the AFL is not starting until a later date Seven and Fox would look o pick it up!
We live in a time where intelligent people are being silenced so stupid people won't be offended

Gee that would be a boon for the WAFL as long as they are paying us for the content and not the other way around as has been the case of late!

the WAFC should be looking at streaming games online like the sanfl do.
now is the time to think about getting exposure, link in with sportfm to provide commentary for 1 game, ch7 another and get look to get people to commentate the other games for free, surely there are people out there who are keen.
