I was bemused by Nisbetts sad sack comments on the news the other night where he was saying the shut down will eat into the clubs reserves by $20mill, FMD that only leaves them with $30mill in the kitty poor phuckers.

One would be forgiven for thinking this comment is to pre-empt a move to reduce their contributions to the WAFL and lower level comps, this must be strongly resisted by the clubs and the WAFC. this shutdown only affects 1 season so any reduction in contributions cannot be justified. He also mentioned that it is likely they will shutdown their reserves. This will leave the option open for a draft of their players to WAFL clubs like the old days, plus there are a few decent non AFL list players in their reserves that will be looking for new homes.

No of course we wont, it just wouldn't be fair now would it?, then again would any of the WC leftovers be good enough!! Certainly can do without the disruption and interference by the Weags telling us who, where and how long they want their players to play. Would be a reverse draft for the non aligned teams based on how they finished last season.

It'll be interesting to see who the AFL clubs cut if their lists get dropped back to say 35 or less. You'd think guys like Ben Miller at Richmond, Jack Mayo at StK, Kyron Hayden at NM and Ainsworth at WCE might struggle to keep their spots which might see them come back to us...interesting times for sure.

Remember, WC get what WC want. Will they be prepared to have their players spread throughout WAFL clubs, while the Dockers are all together at Peel? It would seem unlikely. They may well seek another alignment. Will EP be their bitch again? Best case scenario would be that neither WC nor the Dockers can afford a reserves/alignment team and both clubs have to send players back to an 8 team WAFL. Too much to hope for, I fear.

This is the WAFC's opportunity to stick their tits out. I said right from the top that they will take the piss out of the WAFL with their Reserves side, they now have shown complete disregard by hinting they will pull their team out due to financial restraints, try rattling tins like the rest of us ya muppets !!! (take $ubi off that list)

Maby a big+ here for the tier 2 competitions. With a reduced AFL list and no Wce in the Wafl in 2020.All these players have to play somewhere. If we can get 8 rounds in with crowds with our borders still closed. As the only way COVID-19 can come to Wa is from outside the state.
Could be a good little season where we all play each other once.Even if the season goes into late October or early November. Like the NRL with a last week in October Grand Final. However some established players may have to miss out if the AFL players come back to the Wafl.Which does not have a good look.

I heard they have that much in reserve that they don't know where to hide it. And it's more than $50m. I don't believe a word he says. Remember Gaff and Brayshaw are great mates!

apparently west coasters will jump the fence at mineral resources and play for the red legs.i think they will save a fortune in petrol money.i doubt that it will make sense for either afl side to have a stand alone or alignment side.it will save on excess coaches.i expect players to be divided between all teams.if dockers end their alignment it will be a nine team comp but will peel be able to be competitive on the field and not be a financial drain.

The fact of the matter is a non for profit body owned by the WAFC its borderline criminal that they have that much money stacked up, the whole point was those funds were supposed to be pumped back into WA football, not piled up in obscene amounts, further still they hide behind their NFP status and don't pay a single cent to ATO in tax all the while making huge profits.

They are clearly not paying back enough if they are stockpiling 60 Mill in Cash.
