The NRL have Government approval to re-start their comp May 24th I think. How long before the AFL and the WAFL make an announcement about a new start. Sneakers is happy to look at the AFL or part of the comp basing itself in WA so it cant be far away. I wonder where, besides Optus, they will play games if all or several teams are based in Perth. Given games will be spectator free, they could use Lathlain and the Freo facility in Cockburn, the other grounds that have hosted AFL games, mostly pre-season are Leederville, Joondy and Freo. The surfaces at all those grounds would be in tip top order given no games or training there in some time.

As for WAFL, the only comment i have heard was from Subi CEO Peter capes on the on-line Q & A last week where he said discussions about an 8 or 9 round comp was the preferred option should the comp go ahead. All clubs need to show they can cope financially with a comp this year especially if no punters and in comp with the AFL.

Hopefully by the time the WAFL is given the all clear to commence by the relevant State authorities (not the bloody AFL) crowds are allowed into the grounds otherwise I think it would be pointless to play in front of empty grounds especially as not all of our games are covered on the tv.

I love Aussie rules as much as the next person however the rush to have a comp up and running at all costs bemuses and confuses me.
The AFL are banking on everyone doing the right thing to protect, players, coaches, umpires, trainers, water carriers etc yet we have already seen that such trust is unfounded.
Yes one bad apple doesn't spoil a bunch, but it will only take one person indifferent to rules that don't suit them for the whole season to crash.
Why should these over glorified players be given any special considerations or exemptions not afforded to the rest of us.
One in All in.
Restarting a football comp is not going to assist other industries get back on its feet so why can't they just wait like the rest of us.
