It looks like the story in the West Australian today about the fate of the Reserves competition is crap. Swan DIstrict's President Peter Hodyl has issued a statement denying scrapping it is on the table.

Yes a lot of crap gets bandied around particularly from journalists that think they know everything.

Reserves are and always has been an integral part of the transition from colts to league not to mention amateurs and players coming in from the country for a crack. Without it you might as well fold up the whole show. It is my understanding reserves players don't get paid, or do they get $50 per game? I'm sure others will know the answer.

I dont think the Reserves cost the WAFL clubs too much at all DD it is more the WAFC who believe they can make a saving in that space as it costs them approx $120k a year to pay for umpires in the Reserves.
