After a delay to wait for the grass to grow round 3 was played at Hands Oval on Sunday and what a disappointment it was.

The grass was definitely not to AFL standard and I honestly believe that the games should have not been played this weekend as the surface is crap.

$2.7 million has been spent on grass, lighting and some seating and it is my belief that whoever won the contract has scammed the Bunbury council big time.

I was expecting a surface that resembled something like Rushton park and it turned out to resemble the local cow paddock.

Hopefully the powers that be, will cancel the next fixtures there but i am sure that with so much riding on the success of the whole exercise they will continue to play there but I hope that no football careers are cut short due to the surface.

I was not counting injuries for the 3 games played but hopefully there was no more than normal, but there was definitely a couple of boys from both sides that went down with knee / ankle injuries but how do you measure these things? time will tell.

Tell me about it Trav. We have been canned from training on the northern end which severly interupts our training. And with limited lighting we have been training for around 45 mins anyway. Making life bloody hard for us ah.

But as a club you need to have a home base so better than nothing Fielding.

with the split round coming up and you are then away to Donnybrook the oval will have a little breather but honestly i think it will not recover for the rest of the season and I can only hope the finals are not impacted by the poor surface. (not that the Bulls will be troubling the finals this year!)
