The 2012 South West Football league Grand Final was interesting. Players, spectators and staff were stunned when the league match between Collie Eagles and Busselton ended in a draw. The first ever drawn Grand Final in the SWNFL. Scores were locked on Collie Eagles 10.8 - 68 vs Busselton 9.14-68.
In the Grand Final re-match played the following weekend, it was Busselton who ran away in the last quarter to become 2012 Premiers. Collie 5.9-39 and Busselton 11.8-74

I don't get to see many games Mike, but the standard is quite good. There are some ex Wafl players playing for various teams in the south west. For example, ex East Perth 100 game player Jeremy Humm won the prestigous Hayward Medal with 19 votes. There are ex Subiaco players at the Harvey Bulls. There are many Wafl players end up playing Country football in the various leagues.

Started following the SWFL this year and was surprised at the quality of the games - especially the finals. Some very close, hard fought-out games.
Bunbury also has ex-Subi players. Jordan Adamson-Holmes, Marc Re and Sam Miles were very influential in the finals. Re kicked 11 goals in the 1st sem and prelim final.

I heard on the grapevine where ex - wafl player Tim Noakes has been appointed as coach at Augusta-Margaret River Football Club, beginning for the 2013 season Noakes is said to be delighted with the appointment. Apparently not having coached before, it will be a good learning curve and will have plenty of assistance.

Heard on the reliable bush telegraph Busselton are seeking a new coach. Apparently Darian Cheffers indicated he would not continue at Busselton in 2013.
A 3 time SWFL premiership player took over the coaching position at the Magpies in 2011. Has said his employment and family commitments as reasons for leaving the club.

Been to the last three SWFL grand finals including the drawn one in 2012. Great show put on by the SWFL down there and great atmosphere. They get around 4,000-5,000 people.
The Mayor has spoken..
