MELVILLE 4th v OCEAN RIDGE 7th

Melville stunned a few last week in a very good display by giving it to a disappointing Warnbro and Ridge barely scrapped over the line. My source about their outs was right on the money it seems. The Rams will handle Ridge fairly easily this week with their superior skills and if another result goes the way I think it will, we are going to see a new player in the top 3 by Saturday night. Melville 8 goals.

THORNLIE 2nd v WARNBRO 8th

Thornlie did as expected against the spooners and Warnbro put in a shocker and got belted at home. Not getting any easier for them this week. Thornlie are better in every aspect of the game and will hand out another big loss for the swans. Thornlie 12 goals.

BASSENDEAN 1st v KENWICK 10th

This could get very very ugly. Maybe if it rains a bit it might hold up the Basso onslaught but I doubt it. The royals can only hope they all get through the day unscathed so they can enjoy the frothies afterwards. Bassendean 20 goals

HAMERSLEY 9th v GOSNELLS 5th

Hamersley were oh so close to grabbing a W last week and staying in the hunt for C1 next year. Wasn't to be and I guess their attention will turn to the rebuild and maybe chasing that ressies flag as consolation. Gossies got the upset win which most tipped last week and that helps solidify their tilt at the finals. They will chalk up another 4 points here and keep pressure on the sides above them. Gosnells 8 goals.

BULLCREEK 3rd v CARLISLE 6th

Hint of rain around this weekend. I think we've all come to the conclusion that the creek does not enjoy that. They are definitely stumbling their way through the 2nd half of the year. Carlisle need to beat someone higher than them to really chase that 5th spot. This is the game i think it happens. Carlisle 3 goals.

Expecting another damp day that could even some of the games up a bit.

Melville's improving form should see them get up over Ocean Ridge who struggled to get up by a solitary point over Hammersley last week.

Thornlie, also showing great form, should thump Warnbro on a muddy ground at home.

Although they probably won't need it, Bassendean should get a big percentage boost against Kenwick.

Bull Creek and Carlisle MOTR. Bull Creek weren't that flash against Gosnells last week and Carlisle are coming home well. Whilst I expect it to be close and wouldn't be the slightest bit surprised to see Carlisle win, Bull Creek really need to get on the winners list this time around so I'll tip them - just!!!

Gosnells finished last week strongly against Bull Creek and expect them to be easy winners over Hammersley.

Reserves games could provide more interesting competitions this week.

Melville, although doing OK, will likely find Ocean Ridge too strong.

Neither Thornlie or Warnbro having the best of seasons but Thornlie will likely flog a disappointing Warnbro.

Bassendean will beat Kenwick by probably 15 or 20 goals - even on a wet ground.

Bull Creek should beat Carlisle - and need to so as to stay in the finals race..

Best Reserves game should be between Gosnells and Hammersley. Expect Hammersley to stack their team and be too strong, but it will be close.

Interesting that at this stage of the season, there are certainly 6 (and probably 7) teams still in contention.

Great write ups lads.
Round 14 looks an interesting round on paper. Will games go as we expect? Will we get the weather they predict? And will grounds be heavy and muddy? We will know the answers to these and more questions by 5.00pm Friday.

Melville play a good brand of football, especially at home. Ridge should be competitive but I think they may struggle on the smaller oval. Melville by 4 goals.

Thornlie should consolidate second spot by beating Warnbro at home.

One would expect Bassendean to get a big result against Kenwick at home. Bassendean could rest their whole league side and still win by 15 goals.

Bullcreek are at home to Carlisle. This is definitely match of the round. Creek need the win to stay in touch with the top three and Carlisle need the win to stay in touch with the top 5. Whilst the draw is a live option here, I’m going to go for Carlisle by three points with Kingsley Hunter kicking the winning goal after the siren.

Gosnells should be to good for Hammersley. That margin should blow out past ten goals.

Good luck Saturday everyone. Have fun playing and enjoy the beers afterwards.

if Kingsley Hunter kicks a goal after the siren for Carlisle to win, I'd be tipping Bull Creek to win by 89 points
with an exact score of 90-1 due to the opposition playing an unregistered player.

If Adam Hunter kicks it, memories of his snag in 06 at the G after a daniel chick
tackle/smother/shepherd will come flooding back...

With the race for finals down to 6, MotR will probably be the one that headlines two sides within those positions.
Carlisle have a pretty good run of fixtures to come and i think will make the cut - so it really comes down to who misses out;

it wont be Bassendean
it wont be Thornlie
and if Bull Creek Leeming can win this week it wont be them either

5th spot to be a race between Gosnells and Bull Creek with results this week going a long to confirming that

looking forward to the trip south this weekend to see if the abuse cheering from the Rams balcony
has become any uglier warmer since our last visit

Melville v Ocean Ridge
Melville at home are always a tough ask but Ridge i think have been a very unlucky side this year. Proved they can and will be competitive moving forward in C1. Melville will be looking to start cementing a finals spot a few weeks out with a few tough games to come will be needing the 4 points here.
Rams by 3 goals

Thornlie v Warnbro
Thornlie have been solid all season and Warnbro have just dropped off in the last few weeks, with a few good players leaving the club as well. Expecting Thornlie to tick along nicely in this one.
Thornlie by 10 goals

Bassendean v Kenwick
High flying Swans against a lowly Royals side just waiting for the 2019 curtain call. the weather will help the margin but i dont think it will be good reading still
Bassendean by 15+

Bullcreek v Carlisle - MOTR
Agree with everyone else on the best and biggest game of the round. Creek have a few injuries and are waiting on personnel to come back in, while Carlisle have had a good few weeks. the home ground clearly helps the creek but they will need to find away to slow down the big mids of Carlisle. Hunter to do is normal thing these days and just be more of a pest to the oppo players than actually play footy
Creek at home by a kick

Hammersley v Gosnells
interesting to see what side HC roll out, is it a side to just get through the season while their reserves go for the flag or do they fight for some scalps the rest of the season. Not saying Gosnells is a scalp either with there patchy form line. After this its a big 3 weeks for the Hawks with Melville (H), Thornlie (A) and Bassendean (H) so if they want to play finals they need a win here
Gosnells by 3 goals
