I think this was supposed to be the name of Birdman's topic, but to save confusion I figured id start a new topic.
It looks like being another wet weekend, im sure after Thursday nights training there are a number of pairs of footy boots across the city sitting in front of heaters trying to dry out before tomorrow's games.
Warnbro will be up and about after beating Bullcreek last week. Its a long drive to Hammersley but win here and they are probably safe from relegation for the year. Hammersley have been disappointing this year, and seem focused on winning a reserves flag for all those guys at their club to old to play league football. I'm tipping Warnbro will continue on with their winning ways here.
Melville should get back to winning ways, and get a nice percentage booster playing Kenwick at home. Will their be a repeat of round one when there were a few noses broken? Will it be a good day for some sloppy spoils by the Kenwick backmen?
I have to ask the same question as Birdman, are Bullcreek stumbling, or do they have injuries? Either way they have not won a game in wet conditions all year so that makes this week a danger game. Ocean Ridge have been there abouts all year, they have just lacked polish at times when they could have won. I think this will be closer than a lot of people believe, but ill back Bullcreek. There is to much at stake here if they lose.
Carlisle are at home to Gosnells. There is a lot at stake here with the winner staying in touch with the top three. I reckon Carlisle Reserve will be a boogy track, and I feel that Gosnells with a couple out for the state game (Pescod and Hall two of their prime ball carriers) are gettable here. I'm going for Carlisle at home.
Thornlie v Bassendean is match of the round, first v second both teams have 9 wins from 11. This game will tell us who is the clubhouse leader as we go into the last third of the season, and the winner will probably be premiership favorite at this stage of the year. Bassendean have been the side to beat all year, and their play at all costs style of football catches a lot of sides out. Bassendean appears to have more depth with their reserves travelling well. They score heavily and back themselves in forward of the footy. Thornlie has been very good recently and the last time they tasted defeat was in round three v Bassendean. I think this game will draw a crown, and I think it will be tight. Round one was decided on the siren and I expect this one to be no different. Well one difference ill back Thornlie to get the win here.
Good luck to everyone playing this weekend, may your boots be dry, my your showers be warm and may your beers be frothie.
