Not a good week for those forgetting to put their tips in with only 1 away side picking up the win. Nollamara kept on their winning ways while 3 teams are yet to pick up premiership points. I have adjusted the tipping ladder so everyone got a point for the drawn game.

Cockburn Lakes (5th) v Nollamara (1st) @ Anning Park
After a first up loss to the Raiders, Cockburn have clicked and beaten Belmont and 2012 semifinalists Ballajura. With new players coming in and having to adapt to the playing style, they weren’t expected to gel so quickly but the big test for them is this week. Nollamara are undefeated and already look like a finals bound side, winning a couple of close games and then blowing a weaker team out of the water for much needed %. Again Pickett is the one that needs to be shut down and I think Cockburn’s coach will have a plan for him this week. Will it be enough? This one should be a tight affair and my pick as Game of the Round
Nollamara to win.
Belmont (8th) v Noranda (4th) @ Forster Park
Belmont have dropped a division and so far have struggled – not a promising sign this early in the season. They’ll need some wins soon to avoid the double relegation and this week will not be easy. Noranda had an upset loss on the weekend but still showed they have the class across the board to finish top 2 (still flag favorites in my eyes). With Robbo kicking a 5/6 goal haul in the ressies on the comeback from last year’s injury, they still have plenty of firepower to bring to the table and the depth in the reserves to cover any injuries. I expect them to rebound in a BIG way this week.
Noranda in a canter.
Armadale (10th) v Dianella (2nd) @ Gwynne Park
Armadale have faced 3 of the top 4 teams so far and haven’t looked to be in the same league. This week they face the 4th against a rejuvenated Raiders. In the old Sunday league a lot was made of the home ground advantage of Gwynne Park but it has lost the luster over the last couple of years. If Armadale want to make a dent in this year’s league, they need to start winning at home. Dianella are quietly purring along, with the abandoned game being more talked about than the fact they are yet to taste defeat. They have started well and seem to be pushing from strength to strength.
Dianella to win.
East Fremantle (9th) v Ballajura (7th) @ Winnacott
Another side to have started badly, East Freo have a lot to prove this week. Down the bottom end of the ladder, a loss here will put them 3 games out of the top 5 and facing the very real prospect of a bottom 2 finish. Ballajura have the nearly most even start to the season you could get (1 win, 1 draw, 1 loss, 157 points for, 156 points against) and will this week look to add to the wins column and advance up the ladder. Most expect them to play finals again this year and to do so they will need some big wins against the lower sides.
Ballajura to win.
Ellenbrook (6th) v Carlisle (3rd) @ Coolamon Oval
Carlisle are coming off a 111 point win which has put them in 3rd place with a % just shy of 200. With the 2 wins coming against teams occupying the lower rungs of the ladder, the Cougars know that a win this week can make the competition take a lot more notice. They should be primed for an assault on the finals this year and will be aiming for top 3 and the second chance. The Eels had a stirring win against Noranda at Coolamon and get to play there again this week. It was good to see the team working hard for each other and this showed on the scoreboard.
Ellenbrook to win.
